Hey guy I need some opinions on my hotflash bios...
story is I have an abit ax78 am2+ mobo and a while back windows screwed up a flash...so I order another from abit and all is good ,so today i try and do a hot flash with the old bios chip using the new beta bios 14 and i do it through dos using a floppy.
I boot with the good chip and when in dos i remove the good chip and install the crashed chip...awdflash comes up and tells me to input the file and i type the correct...then it goes to flash and says disk not ready..Im assuming disk is the chip so does this mean the bios chip is history? Ive tryed it like 3 times and all came up the same...
just wondering if anyone else had this happen?
Its a royal pain booting with one chip and removing it, installing the other chip trying to flash and then have to start all over..the chip is a pain to get to with the video card in..I need input before i go through this again......thanks guys ....

Sounds like your floppy is screwed up, have you tried a new floppy or better yet a USB stick converted to a boot drive. Might want to try afudos.exe as well, I prefer it over awdflash when hot flashing or force flashing.

As chew* said, prepare bootable USB and try again.
It looks like either your FDD or floppy disk is failing.
I've done couple of hot-flashes and they all went smooth!
PS. If you're looking to do Bootable USB try to find HP tool. If you can't find it PM me ;)

hello matey,
as the guys have said, use a usb stick to flash it, here is a link to the TRP way of doing it,
http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2628&pid=50754&st=0&#entry50754
just follow the instructions and you will be fine

soundood,
ive looked at the bios 14 file and its 2 files on the disk..1 is awdflash the other is the bios 14 m706a_14.bin......
if i look at bios 13 there are more files like runme and abitfae etc...there are a total of 5 files on the 13 bios but my 14 bios has only 2 awdflash and the m706a_14.bin...
is this correct? i downloaded the file from the link you gave me and extracted using a rar program and thats all that appears in the file afterwards...from what in seeing i couldnt run the runme file as its not there...can you check your folders and see if its the same......
by the way hows your new power supply and are you running the crosshair board yet?

hy matey,
here is the file that TheWolf over at TRP put together to flash it has the missing files you asked for,
http://rapidshare.com/files/189425433/AX78bios14-2.zip.html
or you could just type the folling when the C:\ prompt comes up
when 'C:\' appears type 'awdflash.exe /py /sn /cd /cp /cc /cks /R' (without quotes)
then 'm706a_14.bin' again without the quotes and hit enter, it will then flash the file
hope this helps
remeber after a hot flash to clear cmos and 'load optimized defaults'
the PSU is great, just waiting on the crosshair now, cant wait !!

soundood,
all went well with flash..I really like having an extra bios chip on hand...tell me if you know does the new bios support the new cpu,s coming out in feb...the am3 ones.
just wondering if the cpu code for them is on this 14 bios or does it just support the 2 ph2 920/940 and previous cpu's...
are you going to rma your ax78? also will you let us know when 14 becomes final too...please dont abandon us last onboard abit users....

i would contact customer services in your country from the web site, i would think they still have them, or go with a third party vendor, but they cost a bit, maybe time for a new mobo?
