Ok so I will be buying some parts for a future project so I dont have to blow all the money in one shot
I was thinking about getting a pair of these compressors for the cascade build.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/TECUMSEH-3-4hp-REFRIGERATION-COMPRESSOR-HGA9468ZXA_W0QQitemZ260336457613QQcmdZViewItemQQpt ZBI_HVAC?hash=item260336457613&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1215%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318
And this HX

Basically this wont be happening for a while but I figure I might aswell get he bigger parts first and get some of the cost out of the way as for a condenser I have many in mind I will post up which parts I end up choosing

3/4HP Rotaries, can't be underpowered for an cascade
I'd just wish i could run into that kinda deals :( Everything related to vapor phase change is soooo expensive.

That is so cheap!!
Great deal!

@ Solid im pretty sure ive seen some people using 3/4hp on their cascades just fine I might be mistaken, I might grab a condenser from Detroit AC
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Condenser-for-Refrigeration-Phase-Change-CPU-Cooling_W0QQitemZ330295449979QQihZ014QQcategoryZ13 1503QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
And I will have a second condenser which will be larger maybe me and Ruffus can Fab one OUT yes Ruffus I definetely need your help.I expect all the parts to be ready withing the next couple months once I finish with all my orders
Why cant I find condensers like these in north america

As good a deal as those rotaries are, they run insanely hot, and are some of the loudest roto's I have EVER heard.
Your going to need a much larger condenser.

Noob I was planning on using two condensers one of which being something like http://www.kaeltetechnik-shop.at/Verfluessiger-1140270F00-121kW_1
but I really need to look at what ruffus is able to make up he might have something that will work

You can also run two of DetroitAC's condensers in parallel to get the capacity you'd need with a 3/4hp-1hp compressor. There are 10-plate HXs available on eBay for ~70% of the cost of that 25-plate and they'll function just as effectively.
Regarding compressor sizing, it all depends on your goals. Those compressors would be sufficient I'd say as I have a similar cascade regarding BTU rating on compressors and it functions just fine. Definitely need a large condenser on the 1st stage though, I started with one of DetroitAC's condensers and hit capacity issues immediately, two cleared it up though

thats Gom I was hoping you would post some advice what rating are the detroit AC condensers
and I thought the 25 plate would perform better then 10 but yeah if not then I will buy a 10 plate

So gom something like this I could get away with http://cgi.ebay.ca/10-Plate-Brazed-Heat-Exchanger-Home-Heating-Boiler_W0QQitemZ260343009581QQihZ016QQcategoryZ166 665QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1 262
the dimensions would all work correct this would be sufficient hell I could buy two of these for the same price as one of the other almost

Man, that place is 20 minutes from my house.

Yup, those 10 plate HXs will work just fine. The 10-plate has a 1 to 5kW capacity with a delta of 45F between the hot and low sides. As for DetroitAC's condensers, I wish he had a huge stockpile, I like them as you can treat them more or less like modular components

runmc used 2 of those and it didn't work so well for him
best place to get a cascade condenser is chilly1 IMO... hes got a lot without shroud or fan for cheap.
get a 10 plate heat exchanger, or a 15 if you want to splurge.
id use 2 10k + btu rotary compressors on this
or 2 sc18clx.2's

I heard the sc18s dont work so good on cascades?

Don't see why they wouldn't, work perfectly fine as a large single-stage

ok so im thinking of a set up like this for my cascade still going through planning stages but so far I like this layout

about to buy some accumulators and would like to know if 355 psi test pressure is good enough for running R1150???
here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400005535235&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

the low side won't reach 355psig, that will work great. look around you can snag that for under half that price

It's about static Teyber; some systems could have a static that high.

i know its about static, im saying with that accumulator which i am pretty positive is a lot bigger then what the European guys are using, i doubt the static would be that high unless you really don't know what your doing

It can happen, especially if the liquid line is overly large.
But those tanks should do.

Like NoL said, if your liquid line post-HX is overly large you can get insane statics. Made that mistake on my first cascade, not ever again
Ozzfest05
01-29-2009, 04:57 PM
but the accumulator should work as long as long as we dont make a mistake and over charge correct
I will be ordering these soon so if they will work then great if not ill keep looking

noob of 1337 used these (er, 99% sure) on sdumpers cascade and seemed to work well.
