Hi,

I bricked my GF7900GT yesterday. Most likely because I installed the HR-03 passive cooler not properly (think it had contact to the board, what caused a short-circuit).

However, there was a short lightning on the card and now the following part is burned:

It's the Q514, a 2x3pin SMD part (on the left hand side, just under the white hole). The PCB is also a little black, but i think it would be possible to replace the defective part.

Now i have no idea where i could get or if there are any supplement parts which could be used as well.

Any help is appreciated!

Greetings,
Freezer

Hi,

Seems to be some external linking protection,

you have to visit http://www.ixbt.com first and then the link again from there.

c'mon guys :)

I searched a lot but can't find any pics that are detailed enough, so i can read the exact numbers on the chip (and mine is burned).

Can anyone with a 7900GT make some highres photos of the back/the area of the chip ...or just read the inscription of the chip?

It looks like a small SMD transistor.
Just my first guess, looking at the pic. Have no detailed info for you though.
Oh and BTW, don't be sure that the card will work after you replaced the part. Short circuits tend to damage more than one part, most of the time. I't due to the extreme current flow in case of a short.
