Hey guys

i was bored at work the other day and thought i'd do some OS testing :D xtreme style

I use VT software called Sun xVM VirtualBox. I'm sure many of you have heard of it. Its free and it rules :D

anyways while Nlite-ing a copy of XP for superpi testing i thought i'd record the whole install process to see how long it takes

it took under 5 minutes to do a complete XP install eek

I used a Core duo 1.7GHz laptop with slow ass 4300rpm drive
Virtual Box installed
Nlited Windows XP
this went off the hard drive....not RAM disk ;)

Check out the video :D

my phone camera is not very good sorry but you get the idea

if you're interested in nlite or reducing overhead on OS with such software you can find out more at i4memory.com. There are numerous threads on it from me, JAFFA, eva2000, T_M over there

With 3 OCZ Core V2's RAID 0 on an ARC-1210 installing a vlited Vista X64 from a USB drive took me 18 minutes. When I vlited it I didn't really take anything out though. Only stuff I would turn off once it was all set up. Like search indexing and UAC. I mainly use vlite to slip SP1/hotfixes and integrate drivers.
