...to begin sorry for title, coz not sure how to word it.....

I basically want to build a pc as a gift to my bro...a pc to archive all his pics & videos of his baby...
he is not tech savy to begin with....

I want to give him my Canon SD750 coz it takes very good pics and videos, so he can upload to Facebook and have the rest of the scattered family see the pics.

I might add a webcam too.

the dilemma is I want the pc to be a photo/video archiving and upload pics....

I want limit them from using it, other what I built it for....

I don't want them to turn it into a Bejewel or a Citibank remote station or whatever that would clutter and possibly "infect" the pc and slow it down, for what its worth.
so I dont want to be able to install other programs that might caused me headaches later when I come to visit.

Is it possible to build such a pc with this restrictions?

advance thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

Give him a restricted user account.

Install Linux on the machine.

Guest account for Vista or XP. You can use it, you can save stuff but you won't be able to install anything or mess around with any other files other than the ones in your own C:\User\Guest\ folder on Vista & wherever it is on XP.

From win 2000 through Vista you set yourself up as administrator and set them up as a simple user. Password the admin account and don't give them the password. you can then go into group policies and set the policies to disable the install function on the user account group.(this way way if they create a new user to try and get around it , it won't work.)
