optical drive HELP

why wont my pc recognize my optical drive connected to the slave cable? it will only recognize the main. i know they are both powered and even when i switch the main cable from one drive to the other they will each register, but only one at a time. it never recognizes the second opti drive. is this a bios thing? a cable problem? any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

in the position you have them now set the jumper pins on the drives to either master / slave or cable select.....you may need to play about with them to find the right setting....ive had this myself many moons ago since going sata i dont need too now.
also check your bios for any settings you may have changed making sure both drives are seen.
