LG W2600H-PF Black 25.5" LCD: Settings?

I know a few of you guys bought that 25.5" LG monitor on sale. What settings are you guys using to get more accurate colors?

Oh wow. I knew these existed, but had no idea about the cost. That's nearly as much as I payed for my monitor, all things considered.

Just curious how exactly does a monitor calibrator work?

Does it physically change the colors, or does it just modify the values? (contrast, brightness, gamma, etc,)

a monitor calibrator changes the color settings of the RGB profile loaded onto your video card after "looking at" a ton of different colors.

as far as that cheap calibrator goes, I really don't know how good it is, my inclination is to say not very. The one I linked is the standard for calibrators in the photography industry and I'm pretty sure everyone uses it.

I have two 1920x1200 monitors that I use daily and that's it. The rest are unused or low end on folding rigs, so they don't matter. Maybe if I get a 3rd monitor for my set up, I'll consider it, but at that price, its hard to justify. I could just buy another monitor.

Look into a Spyer2Express. They are around $60 and do a great job. I use it on all of my displays, and friends and family.

To the best of my knowledge, most calibrators only generate an ICC profile, which won't help you if the app you're using is not color-aware. So they're fine for Photoshop and such, but not so much for most games and media apps.

an ICC profile loads onto your graphics card when windows boots and stays there all the time, while drivers load in windows you can see the color change and it is nothing less than drastic.
