I just cant justify $1000+ for a TV, but for the love of Christ!!! I cannot keep my toddlers away from the front of my regular tabletop CRT. I need to get something 4' up on the wall, now! I seriously have to tan thier hides just to make them think about it for the next few moments, and a few minutes later they are standing in front of the TV again. :slapass: I dunno..Maybe I should quit watching so much Sponge Bob. Hehe

No wonder why you can't justify $1k for a TV, you don't know the half of it.

Plasma is not all that great and 720p? Sure but for $750 you can buy a Toshiba 40" LCD 1080p at Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9034626&type=product&id=1218011400290

All broadcast are in 1080i or 720p but once you get a Blu-Ray player, that 1080p comes in handy.

IMO, you should get the LCD not a plasma.

This here is what I got at home: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889253174

Sponge Bob looks great, specially with the digital channel line up.

I thought plasma's were better and THINNER. But from reading abit more on it, it would seem that LCD's may generally be thinner, lighter, use less power, last longer, dont suffer burn in... ect. ect. Is this all correct. They do not seem to be cheaper though.

That plasma is a good choice, if you plan on watching lots of TV then go with the Plasma as the picture quality will be better than the LCD.

I also have a Toshiba 40" XF model and it is stunning but for normal SD TV a plasma is always a better option.

Its amazing monitor
Native: 30000:1 and Dynamic: 1000000:1
Also 480Hz Sub-field Drive which is equal 120Hz for LDC monitor with amazing 0.01 response time
and 5,120 equivalent Deep Color ( I thing thats more than 10 bit )

I dunno how it is over where you live but if you do get a plasma then watch it with the kids channels. Over here they tend to put very brightly colored station logos and such in the top corner that when left on for some time tend to burn into the screen.

Personally I would go with LCD (no burn/glare/less power). I have had both and I find that LCD is a bit better. ;)

Good luck with which ever you do go with.

Umm plasmas are great actually I have had both LCD and Plasma and my plasma kicks ass. The picture is great on them specially in a darker room.
