Hi Guys,
My computer setup in my den unfortunately has a very awkward power source which is quite some distance from my computer. I recently upgraded to a 750w corsair PSU to power my new 4830 and future upgrades but am worried that the two long power bars (one is actually two daisy chained together) may cause me problems in the future. Currently they are powering (e5200/i945/HD4830, router, cable modem, two lamps, 2 x 17" LCDs and a laptop)
I am no UPS expert but if I were to plug my machine into the UPS and have the UPS connected to the wall socket through a long extension cord can I rely on it as an insurance piece to ensure I have clean power?
Thanks!

you need a power conditioner, you can get them at guitar center because they are made for guitar amps.
I'm not sure what models are best, but thats definitely what your looking for.

Basically I want some power device to battle the starvation for power, while providing good clean and ample power to my computer. Ultimately that device would deal with the voltage drops based on the long extension cord as I don't want my PSU fighting that battle.
I will have a look at power conditioners.
Thanks!

How long of an extension cord you talking about here, what gauge wire on these cords? The more cords you put together inline, the greater chance your gonna have a fire. Not a good thing to be doing. Get a 12/3 extension cord. Sounds like your really need to call an electrician.

Computer and peripherals are around 20ft away from receptacle. That's all. I'm not a big fan of putting such load on two long power bars due to fear that a voltage drop will lead to premature failure of my devices.
Its not going to start a fire, but it also doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. Now I can get serious about industrial strength extension cords but thought that a UPS might be better suited.
Does that help? Thanks :)

I've never seen a wall in a house 20' long, without an outlet in it. Thats wierd.

A UPS cannot make power that is not there. Now most are rated to run at voltages between 100-130v. But the bad thing is if your running at a lower voltage, you put alot of stress on the ups. They are meant to handle casual voltage drops.
Do you have a multimeter that you check the voltage with? You will see voltage drop. That will tell the tale.
Like I said before, get a 12/3 heavy duty extension cord & a UPS. Dont gang cords together.
