Hi,

I'm trying to install Windows XP (and also Vista) on a HTPC. I't's booting fine into an already installed hard disk (using XP) but I want to do a new install, as it's a new system.

I get following error message:

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/6259/29122008093fj7.th.jpg (http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=29122008093fj7.jpg)
The system is

- Intel E5200
- 1 gig DDR2 memory
- 320 gig sata hard disk
- sata DVD RW
- Asus P7N something mobo (with the integrated nvidia 9400)

But I also have an IDE hard disk, other PSU, E4700 cpu, tons of memory, and other mainboard (MSI X3100 intel integrated), separate VGA card, ...

Even with a completely other system I have the same message. Is it because of the recent chipsets ? They also have both the latest BIOS installed...

Anybody an idea ? The last thing I'm going to do is try using an XP or vista CD with integrated service pack, but really odd it isn't working... Also disabled all the features in BIOS. Getting depressed of this :(

Don't quote me on this and it might not even apply to you or work but.

a pci.sys error (BSOD) is a windows version issue. XP with SP2 is the only version that will work when there is a PCI-E slot.

gamer67 is right the xp you have is too old and does not recognise pci-express i had the same problem myself what you need to do is either get a different copy of xp with sp2 on it or slipstream service pack 2 to a new cd of xp (getting a more recent xp version ) is the best bet but thats what it is 100%

In the mean time I got a XP SP3 cd, and there it works. But still weird that installation of vista is giving exactly the same error message...
