I had just picked up one of these boards when my network switch killed itself. Does anyone know whether the P5Q Premium can fill the role of ethernet switch?

For example, could I run five player LAN games with a PC connected to each of the boards four ports?

If so, would all the connections be at full 1000Mbps speed?

And another related question: Is it still neccessary to use crossover cables for direct links between PC's, or will normal patch cables be fine?

I bet my bottom dollar that all the onboard NICs are auto-configuring :yepp: in other words: doesnt matter which cable is used

configuring is easy - if no PC in the LAN has WAN connection, disable all firewalls etc, assign IPs on each PC & away u go! :D

How do I get this to work:

My dedicated UT2004 server has two LAN ports, one connected to the ADSL modem and the other to my PC (the P5Q premium). My brothers PC is connected to port 2 on the P5Q premium, but he can't see the dedicated server???
