Hi..

I am going to build a HTPC, but becasue I still play some computer games every now and then I need a PC that can play most games like WoW and Call of duty.

I have been thinking about the following rig:

E8400
Asus P5E-V HDMI
4gb RAM
HD4850 512mb
2 x 1tb samsung spinpoint.

a nice rig in my opinion, but I was wondering if it bud be a better choice to buy a Phenom II setup insted? And What can you recomned me in Phenom II ?

This is OK setup...and you can play games really nice with it...Phenom II???Hmmm...you can OC this E8400 and enjoy : ))) But he is fast enough in default speed for today games so dont worry about performanse...

Buy it...and enjoy it...when time eats it...then go to newer socket...or upgrade this with some Quad-Core...etc...

Phenom II will have some mATX boards coming out. Wait for the release before making your decision.

i have a spare rig im selling to a friend..but it has a e7200 @ 3.8ghz with a 8800gtx and the thing does great for games..of course the newest titles on my 24" isnt playable at the highest settings for games like crysis/stalker clear sky but everything else runs very playable..so id imagine that setup should do very well...especially for wow and cod..which imo neither are that demanding for any decent vid card right now..
