In 3 months time I shall be getting a EVGA FTW 780i motherboard. To go with that I shall getting 2 GTX 260 SSC Core 216 55nm:yepp::yepp:. I would like to know if anyone know how good this set up would be and if anyone has a 55nm GPU.

thats a vary bad idea for a MB stay away from NV chipsets, dont do it, and there will be a gx2 out by then

Ace - why got that older outdated mobo ? I would have thought a digital pwm equipped 790 would be the go , not to mention anything else that might be out by then . Same goes for vid cards .

You're getting way ahead of yourself. Go get that minimum wage job at Wal-Mart, then come and see what's on the market in three months.

I wanted to get the 780i because I wanted ddr2 ram support. If there is a new nvidia motherboard I will go with that. Also the 55nm gpus are already out. Kinda. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/896MB-EVGA-GTX-260-SSC-PCI-E-20-(x16)-2304MHz-GDDR3-55nm-GPU-675MHz-216Cores-2x-DL-DVI-I-HDTV.
I don't want a new batch of nvidia card because they won't support Dx11 and thats a waste. Also the price of the gtx 260 will fall so I will be better.
Also I don't want a gx2 because I have had problems with them before.

get the gx2 out in feb latest and get a p45, or go i7, stay away from NV chipsets at all costs

I have two GTX 260s and an old quad-hating 680i board which gets 2000 FSB no bother; the 790i can only be better than this. I would never say "stay away from Nvidia chipsets" but then again, I haven't had the DOA misfortune that countless others seem to have had with Nvidia boards. For me, E8500+NForce+GTX260 SLI = epic win.

And when it comes time for a quad=epic fail until you replace than nvidia junk set of a motherboard.

Honestly, I wouldn't get a NF chipset. I've owned NF2, 4 and 5 chipset based boards. The only one nVidia got right was the NF5, the other chipsets were complete trash. TBH I would get a good P45 board.
