Seeing some peeps fail to grasp the concept of thread titles, here is a thread title which in all honesty if the title is misunderstood then they are beyond help!

It is hoped that the moderators here at XS will allow this thread to exist, and to redirect all those peeps who seem hell bent on diverting thread upon thread to suit their own personal vendetas, right here.

So PLEASE fireway, if you want to compare PII to the particle accelrator at CERN here is the thread for you.

If you want to compare PII to the next solar eclipse, here is the thread for you

If you want to compare PII to the birth of the next panda in the wild then this is the thread for you.

Seriously though, lets see how many of you peeps who fail to grasp the concept of a thread titles, actually end up posting here, in a thread that is titled EXACTLY as where YOU SHOULD BE POSTING.

So, Phenom II is on our doorstep, you feel the sensors are showing lower temps then what it should be showing, post here.

Argue this as much as you want (intelligent peeps no need for you to post here)

Phenom II is going to rape the I7 in performance across the board, it is so l00t that it will run at 10C and overclock to 9ghz leaving the I7 in its wake. Dont believe me then prooove me wrong, as THIS IS JUST THE THREAD FOR YOU!!!

Now have fun (that is if you know the meaning of this word, lol)..............

I believe that Ht clocks getting higher are releasing the cold bugs, that have plagued amd for so long. I'm saying this just because I noteiced that x2 with 1,000mhzdon't do well below -40 and phenom with HT 3.0 seem to have gotten as low a -60 this new phenom II can handle the 2,600mhz. unlike 9850-9950 which most will do 2,400mhz on the nb but fail at the higher 2,600mhz HT (not all of the fail just that most do) so droping the HT to 200mhz may well see well over 6ghz on LN2

All 64-bit OSes.

Phenom II OCed to 3.2/NB 2000 instead of 3/1800. (VISTA/Serv 2008 64-bit. See Windows 6.0 stuff)
Phenom I OCed to 3.28/NB 2021. (XP 64-bit)

Comparable to scores from here.

In CB x64 it's clock for clock "almost there" compared to the C2Q 45nm 12MBs, so 3> 2.83.

people must remember that phenom uses L3 cache at lower clock speed, then L2 cache. If it's keep up with core 2 quad with 12MB of faster l2 cache which is the same a core speed. The L3 is pretty darn fast already with out needing L3 so fast. L2 cache speed for q9550 2.830ghz L3 cache speed for phenom II 1.8ghz. huge difference

How is that particularly relevant to the discussion?

LOL
I read thread title & thought its was RE: P2 - as in Intel Pentium II

How is that particularly relevant to the discussion?Well Bhad Coga, the title is PII relative performance (as in Phenom II, lol) and, well, his post is about....relative performance.

I will be adding my comparative testing to this thread of how Phenom I scales with NB frequency increase, and hopefully will be adding to this with scaling of Phenom II performance with increase in NB frequency.

See if you can do some postive testing with your intel rig!

Well Bhad Coga, the title is PII relative performance (as in Phenom II, lol) and, well, his post is about....relative performance, so.....
What difference does it make to us as consumers if the reason the Phenom performs poorly compared to Intel alternatives is due to cache or some other factor?

Stop picking on Chad Boga. He just got back from 7-day vacation.

Stop picking on Chad Boga. He just got back from 7-day vacation.Picking on Bhad Coga, was actualy inviting him back into community, by asking him to positively participate in the thread

:yepp:

So Bhad, whoops, Chad, as I am not wanting to discuss what difference it makes to consumers regarding how cache performance 'negatively' effects Phenom II v its counterparts (yeah I am selfish).

Someone else will have to answer that question, maybe a members of a different forum not named XTREME SYSTEMS maybe citizens rights bureau maybe able to help you with these concerns

:D

Most peeps here just want to find out how they can get extra performance out of any hardware they buy, I know i do

If you were paying attention you would see I posed that question initially to the person who raised cache performance.

I only mentioned it to you because you had trouble following the thread, I certainly held out no hope of getting any information from you.

Now to other peeps who dont mind conversating with me, please continue with the posting of relative Phenom II performance
