Hi,

I just configured my first heated block design. I have been using UHMW plastic (cutting board) for my block mounts. My previous applications have been only for VC, and the condensation issue was not THat critical (because any little bitty water drops fall onto the bottom of the case and not on electronics - not that that particularly happens).

I employed 22" to "24" of NI-Chrome wire, with a resistance of 3-ohms. The 5V from the power supply got it pretty warm. The 3.3V really seemed to be right.

i did that with a string of .1 ohm resistors, works great. where did you get the wire?

and here is how it turned out like

you could also use that window defogger paint stuff and laminate it

Sounds interesting...have you actually done that? I don't think making the proper "thin correct ohm line" would be easy! :)

Aaahh! maybe a thick line?

any thickness would work, its just resistive paint so it would heatup evenly. i would like to try it, but dont have a laminating machine. tape would work fine too im sure instead of laminate.

I thought you had actually done the deed! ;)
No matter..the concept is interesting for " heater elements" that's what we're talking about...I used the "resistive paint "defrost repair" to hard mod the 9500np ATI cards that I still have..use....It's interesting stuff in that, you can bulid multi layers, thus possibly increasing the resistance.

btw, any, PIP store can laminate any lay-up you bring them! ;)
