Anyone know what my chances of gettin an EO stepping at newegg are? Do they still have some c1 stepping or is it pretty safe now? Thanks.
Yes, it's pretty safe to get an E0 stepping now

Thanks for the reply, I guess I will try my luck, anyone have any idea what it would cost me to send one back to newegg if it was c1 stepping? and do they charge any other fees? Thanks.

I recently returned my order from newegg because it came as a C1. Everyone in the reviews was saying "I got an e0, you should too by now"....but that was not the case. If your chip comes as a C1, then DO NOT OPEN IT, and RMA the thing. This way, no harm no foul and they can resell it as new/unopened and you get your money back. I went ahead and bought one from Fry's for $10 more (but Newegg would have charged me 'about' that much for shipping anyway)

What did you state as your reason for RMA, and did you have to pay return shipping or any restocking fees? Thanks.

I have found a site where I can get guaranteed EO for 319 shipped, but it still will cost me more than newegg because I can get a combo with my MB for a 20 dollar discout, and lemme tell you with allready being 100+ dollars over my xmas/birthday budget with the wife....its gettin hard to spend ANY more lol.

I simply told her that it's not the one I wanted. She then asked if it was opened, and I told her the truth that it wasn't opened at all and that I can box it up and return it the next day. I was not charged a restocking fee for whatever reason. I either caught a break or that is their policy...I am too lazy to look, but I think you have 7 days to return/initiate and RMA if the CPU is unopened....you might want to double check that though.

Is it worth while buying a q9550 now or waiting for the 920 to drop in price?

Newegg seems to get desired steppings in for a while but then they will switch back to older ones. Luck of the draw.

You could always try Microcenter too. Luckly I have a B&M near me so I went through the 6 Q9550s they had and found the batch I liked.(They were all from the same batch---LOL)

No. The majority of there deals are in store only. Mid-November they had a one-day sale on a Wednesday. They had a combo deal Q9550/ECS g33 mobo for $239. Yes, $239!!!! I called and they had 12 left. I went and they were sold out. It was a 20 minute drive to my Fry's. I got my Q9550 3 weeks ago at MicroCenter for $299 + tax= $324.74

Ahh that sucks, there is no frys or microcenter within hundreds of miles from me, guess I will try newegg and hope for an E0, if not I guess the C1 will be good enough....can get the processor with a ep45-ud3p motherboard 20 dollar discount on the combo price I guess thats my best ruote. like 430 bucks total.
