Hi guys,

I'm about to start my first attempt at watercooling.

Stuff are as follows :

Right now, the only mod I can think of is to cut a hole on top (YELP!) of the case to fit the 3 x 120 radiator.

Components :

* Core i7 920
* eVGA X58 3x SLI
* 6GB Patriot DDR3 1600
* HIS Radeon 4870 512MB
* Velociraptor 10,000 rpm 300GB
* 2x Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3279/3116809791_fe05052454.jpg?v=0

Case :

* Cosmos Black Label

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3100/3116810939_c0fe2fa04c.jpg?v=0

Watercooling :

* Swiftech Apogee GTZ
* Swiftech MCR320QP-K
* Swiftech MCP655
* XSPC Razor 4870
* Ek Multioption Res 250

Any suggestions guys? :)

You can sleep under it :D

You think one loop is enough? I didn't want to mod too much so I'm starting with 1 loop.

i7 is an inferno so temps will be high. You should be able to get away with it. You can go 2 loops later if you find the temps to be too high.

Just out of curiosity, why'd you go with a 4780 instead of a 260 or 280 gtx with an sli mb?

Most X58 MB's are "SLI" MB's (Including the RIIE), just because it name's is 3X SLI doesn't mean it performs less with ATI. :D

I can't see any other obvious places to mount a rad.

You have to use black tubes in that though!!

If that case is the same as the original cosmos you can mount a triple rad up top with just screwing 2 fans into it. It will hold. The rad is light.

As far as getting air through that section (which I'm sure it's covered) I'm not sure how much of a hit you'll take by leaving it. I'm sure someone has some more input on this.

I live in Indonesia, and they charge exorbitant prices for nVidia products.

The normal GTX 260 192 core is like $300-$350ish

I have 2 Cosmos cases. I think I'm gonna try to cut the top of the vanilla Cosmos case first and see if cutting a hole really improves the temp. I wouldn't bother if it's 2-3 C difference.

What a great idea! It didn't occured to me yet to use black tubes :D
Are there any ID 7/16 OD 5/8 black tubes around? Cause I bought all those compression fittings...

I live in Indonesia as well,

And I can tell you guys that we have to spend often 25% more on stuff.
Since not many shops stock Watercooling stuff and all.
Where I live in Semarang there isn't any, just to get descent thermal paste I gotta get out of town!

Anyways Looks like a really cool build! I am looking for components to build a case as well, But yours ...

Wow,

Have fun with this I'll be checking back to see what will become of this!

How is your XSPC razer performing for your 4870? i just bought 4870 and looking for a good and cheap. i couldnt decide between XSPC, Swiftec or Koolance.

If you are looking for performance, I think the Swiftech performs the best.

I needed the full block because of the orientation, that is tubes exiting vertically downwards rather than horizontally like the Swiftech's.

Nice Temps on the i7 and pretty damm good clocker you have there refreshing seeing a build like this instead of the Silverstone Tj07 that everyone seems to be copying.
Excellent case and looks great:up:

Nice looking build. the 4 pin aux power cable that you have running over your video card, could you fit it through the gap between the PCI-E slot on the motherboard and the PCI slots where the video card mounts at the back of the case? I know I've used that trick a time or two, sorry if that doesn't make much sense. It would look a lot cleaner without that cable stretched across the video card.

Yea I need an extension cable to reach that spot. Still waiting on some MDPC sleeving pack to make it look sleeker :D

very nice very clean build. but i just have to point this out, that black label case is the cosmos 1000 just painted all black. i was just looking over the pics online and comparing to my 1000.
how much did this case cost you? i would hate to see this case being outrageously expensive considering.

hchristian

That's true it's only a Cosmos painted black

I have both the normal one and the Black Label

"Limited Edition" is a license to charge more :D

Let's not forget that this case is a limited edition! Only 500 made and only 10% are in the U.S

The case was painted in anodized black all the way down to the screws! which is very expensive, also the case comes with a 700w psu and a slick HSF. You also get VIP membership to coolermaster events, so add all that up and the $600 U.S price tag doesn't seem that bad.

Nice looking build so far

Thanks for the comment.

Somehow they packaged different power supplies to different regions.

I actually got a 850W modular PSU. It's painted gloss black.

hey hchristian, is your vid card sagging a bit T_T?

hchristian

Yea it's sagging a bit from the weight of the WB. A backplate might help...

having this problem, or are all full cover WB like this?

I have read reports of some users with the EK full cover block bending their cards.

Nice build, I really like the Cosmos but I just wish that coolermaster put it into mass production because the price tag is too high for my bank account.

Thats just noobs that screw everything as tight as possible, when it says not to overtighten :shakes:

hchristian
01-24-2009, 03:36 AM
Well the manufactures shouldn't have made the threads too deep if
they didn't want noob to overtighten!

I actually had to loosen the screws so that it doesn't bow too much.. in fact right now it's not that tightened yet it still bows.... :mad:

the tube that is coming off your CPU block and going to your card. make that shorter, much shorter. its pushing down on it cause its so long hence why it looks like the card is bending. ive had this same problem. lift the card to where you want it, cut the tube shorter and attach the tube. the tube will end up holding the card up. hope that helps.

I wonder why didn't they make black a standard for cosmo? Originally I think the cosmo looks like a toy until I see this one :eek:

Looks really good :) I'm so jealous, I have the normal silver version of this case...the black is so much more sleeker though :cool:

Black tubing would look awesome in there ;)

Actually I'm planning to put in black tubing in it and as Nametaken45 said,
I will shorten the tube from the CPU WB to the GPU WB. Hopefully it helps the sagging.

Hey hchristian,

Was removing this panel and cutting the 3rd hole difficult? I'm seriosly considering doing this. I need to upgrade my crappy Swiftech MCR220 rad to a Feser 360. I just don't want to have to completely strip my computer just to get this top panel off. :(

No, removing the panel is not hard. I only removed the top panel, tied down by around 10-15 rivets. Just drill them off and it came right off.

Yea it's enabled

what type of Blue LED that you use on top? Is that the LED from the fan? It looks so beautiful with that LED.
I just bought the Black Label case, and I'm going to build it (not sure go for water or air?)

Here is my spec that I just bought not all complete:
Case: Cooler Master Black Label case
PSU: ????
Motherboard: ????
CPU: Intel E8500 E0 3.16ghz
Memory: 4GB (2x2gb) Patriot Viper DDR2 800 PC2 6400 (4-4-4-12) with Corsair Airlow Cooler
GPU: ?????(looking for 4870 X2)
HDD1: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 16mb 7200rpm
HDD2: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 16mb 7200rpm
DVD Burner: ????
Fan Controller: NZXT Sentry LX Dual 5.25" Fan Controller
Fans: ?????(will replace case fan with high CFM low noise)

WaterCooling: Another $500 to spend (still thinking...)
Air Cooling: Another $50 to spend for Xigmatek Dark Night S1283

Need advise ???

I've got curious. With this enormous Fulltowers, I never saw anyone using 2x240mm rads on the top.
The space is enough. People get a hard time putting rads in front or bottom, but could fit two 240mm easily on the top.........Just thinking.

Good work though.

What do you mean? Two 2 x 240 stacked together or lined up vertically?

Well both setups probably won't work on the Cosmos unfortunately

You could fit a 1 x 480 on a TJ07 though

Bring up an old thread, but I dont see aenough fan screw holes there that can allow you to fit 3 fans...or am I seeing it wrong...Also the fan spacing seems to be more than 15 mm.
