Hey guys,
I'm hoping you can guide me as I'd really like to get this problem sorted before Christmas. I have an XFX 780i mobo with a q6600 2GB of crucial tracer ram and a 700w tt psu. Currently the mobo is given my memory problems. Basically if I inset the two sticks of RAM the mobo will give a c1 error. If I use just one stick of ram in any slot I get a 1d error but if I put the one stick into slot no. 3 the pc will turn on but will freeze after a short while. I treied some old 512mb pc5300 stick of ram I had lying around and I could use the computer as normal but only with one stick of it. I've flashed the bios and tried setting the bios to the settings for the tracer ram like 2.0v etc. but it doesn't want to boot up when I do this. I've also tried some crucial ballistx ram I have and I had the same problem with it as I did with the tracer. The problem began when I put 2GB of ballistx pc6400 ram in along with my current pc8500 ram. Any ideas, I've already raised a ticket but I'd like to get this sorted a.s.a.p as I have a new video card coming for christmas for this system. Thanks.

I am thinking a bad board. If you RMA the board it should be fine. Do all of those sticks work in another system?

I'll check that out for you when I can. I was talking to your customer help today and they reckoned it could have been caused when I put in the ballistx in along with the tracer which runs as different speeds and timings. They recommended to change the command per clock to 2T I also didn't get round to installing all the drivers either, would that make any difference ?? I'd really like to avoid RMA if at all possible.

Drivers won't matter in getting the board up. It is mainly the 1d code with a single stick in the first two slots that makes me think the board is bad, unless I read the post wrong.

Well the weird thing is it will freeze when I try booting up with one stick of the tracer ram but when I use one stick of the 512mb ram it boots and works absolutely perfect.

Maybe I did read it wrong than. What happens in each slot when you use that 512MB stick? Does it boot perfect in all four slots?

I'm not 100% sure about that but I know that it won't work when I use two of the 512MB sticks.

Can you test with that stick in each slot? If it boots every time than we can go from there but if it works in say the last two slots but in the first two you get a C1 or 1d than you should have it replaced.

Right mate, I'll do that when I get home Thursday. Great idea to have this forum, very handy.

Just thought I'd let you know how I was getting on. I got the tracer ram working but it started acting up once again. I did what what your tech support asked me to do to change the clock cycle to 2T and it worked grand. I then put a second stick of it in and the infamous 1d error returned once again. I then removed that stick but the bios kept locking up with the one stick which was working fine so I reset the CMOS and entered the settings and its randomly locking up in windows now. Any ideas ??
