Now that Intel have been on top for quite some time there have been released some very nice boards for the Intel CPU's (Asus Rampage Extreme come to mind).
How are the current AMD lineup, should we expect to see much better boards now that AMD will release a powerful cpu. Or are SB750 boards already very good.

The SB750 boards are quite good, even better when mated with the 790FX. As usual, it depends on the motherboard manufacturer's point of view and their product positioning.

Asus has delivered 2 very nice product with the SB750 (a 790FX and a 790GX). DFI has also revved their terrific first gen SB600 based mobo, as well as cooked up a few other really nice ones. Foxconn also delivered some really nice boards with the SB750 as well.

Most of the other traditional mobo builders have stuck with the 790GX as the NB, and there is a nice variety of choices. All have good performance.

i have a m3a32-mvp and i have been really happy with it. its good enough for me so i don't feel the need to upgrade to the sb750 ones. mostly cause the 79t has a brown pcb and i like my black pcb lol.

I say when you wanna go with AM2+ and DDR2 you can take one of the current boards. I still prefer foxconn A79-S (everbody knows why ;) ) but there are also a lot other good boards from asus or gigabyte as far as I read. if you wanna buy a system now, go with sb750, if you can wait, take DDR3 - should give another performance boost hopefully. For gaming in '09 the socket am3 shouldn't make a big difference compared to current platform but for benching the cards are not open yet if you ask me ;)

I'll second the Foxconn there SOF. It's a quality board.

HTT 300 MHz, is it achievable on most 790FX/GX + SB750 boards in the market right now ? Especially for pairing with Ph2 I920, is that too much to ask on average, or will there be more advanced and rounded BIOSes special for OCing Deneb in the future out of those boards ?

I've still not chosen the board for the 940, but the Foxconn is considerably more expensive than the Diamond Flower or Asus. Is there anything about the Foxconn I should know that'd swing me towards it?

So how many of these threads are we gonna get? It's like daily someone makes such a thread. I know this is a forum to help people, but come on, at least read trough different threads:shakes:

I've read most threads - certainly any that I can find that look useful. But no amount of information is ever enough for me :P

Well the Foxconn A79A-s can do something that the other mother boards can not . If you are a hard core Gamer the foxconn board will let you run 2 4870x2 (they run HOT) in 16x 16 PCIe slots and still have a 2 slot air gap between the 2 video cards for better air cooling .All the other mother board puts them back to back when running 16x16 PCIe . Now you will have to come up with the longer than stock crossfire bridge your self . The crossfire bridge that come in the DFI LandParty DK M2RS pack in is the right length .

It also has the best ACC implementation of all the SB750 boards I've investigated so far along with very beefy power regulators.

no offence, but if someone's a hardcore gamer.. i really doubt if he is gonna be running an amd setup.. what more an amd setup AND a 4870x2

ATM i"m playing with DFI's LanParty DK 790GX based, and it's really nice mobo... Yeah it requires a bit of gentle approach in tuning (to be safe one needs to change BIOS options one at the time / restart)... but when all is set, it works like charm...

Foxconn's 790GX mobo is also nice. doesn't have so refined and reach BIOS, but with "Blak" processors you basically can reach limits on given cooling as same as on DFI...

ASUS's 790GX (78-T model) is OK, but I would put it behind Foxconn's
