I thought ill make this my first post since i will be using the section a lot,
i am young so don't be too harsh on my intelligence but don't underestimate me:cool: .
Anyway this isnt just a introduction, For a while now i have being watching the Silverstone RV01 Case
Heres a few pics:

They have the expansion and I/O Shields at the top because they have rotated the motherboard 90 degrees, Yes this case dose seem to use a lot of plastic but i do think it has quite a potential for modding, and might have the antec 900 effect... Also looks like cable management could be messy but the GPU stand could be used to hied them, And i think Green UV Liquid Cooling and Geild Fans would look sexy.

Still have my eyes set on the Tagan/Lian Li Black Pearl, but i live in australia and i would have to get it shipped witch would cost quite a bit

:clap:FIRST POST:clap:

Any way say hello and tell me what you think about the case

Welcome to XS, OverLoad.

First impressions of the case is that it doesn't look too horrible. At least they left it all black instead of tarting it up with colors or plasti-chrome. I'm not too confident about airflow with all that plastic covering up every square inch/centimeter of surface area.

Also, I think that the mobo mounting being turned 90 degrees is pretty gimmicky. Yeah, it might give better access for connecting monitor/keyboard/mouse, but how often do you really mess with those things once you have your rig set up? As far as convection cooling (the "stack effect"), if it worked worth a crap everyone would do it.

Welcome to the best forum in the world.

(That statement is purely objective and everybody who disagrees has obviously been surfing in the wrong sections)

There has been some quite heated debates about that case, the opinions range from hate to love. Personally I think it could do with a bit less going on, it has too many edges and restrictive air filters that don't really serve a convincing purpose. Turning the motherboard like that is an interesting idea, regardless if it works. The inside of the case is at least nice and compact, even though the edge at the back of the case does potentially decrease the amount of space available (I'm not sure from these pictures how you mount the PSU, how far out it comes at the back).

Enjoy your stay and ignore the haters. :p:

Welcome.

My opinion on the case? I dont like it. Too edgy...and well, ugly haha.

Thanks for the friendly welcome, just wanted some opinions on the case yeah there is too much plastic and doesn't have much of airflow, but i was thinking of cutting back and placing 2 120mm fans, see i sell computer freelancing
i build one each month and sell it, i show somebody that doesn't have knowledge about computer a TJ09 or a X500 or V2000 then show them a antec 900 or show them this and they will like the antec 900 more and this, get about $120 profit for selling one then that money goes to the next one next month i will have a high budget for a high end PC. So for the high price i will be charging i want it to have some sex appeal

To me it just seems like it is trying to hard to look futuristic. That kind of wedge thing cut in the back looks especially useless

Uh oh. I'm not sure I like the direction that Silverstone has been going lately. It's slowly changing the way Coolermaster did around 2003/2004 after it started phasing out it's high-end all-aluminum cases and started focusing on cheaper cases.

I still own and love my old Coolermaster ATC-410-SX1 and ATC-110 - very few cases even come close to their build quality these days.

I guess they got some inspirations from Stealth Bomber or the New Lamborghini Reventon (http://images.google.com/images?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=s&hl=en&q=new+lamborghini&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title)

The modding potential for this case is fairly big. I will probably be getting one at some point provided they bring out an aluminium version - this one is steel isn't it?
The whole rotated motherboard thing really appeals to me - it just seems to make more sense..

I don't like the case at all. Still the classic ATX case layout is the best.

Reminds me of the new batmans movies, and a stealth bommber. And i too think it has modding potential also.

As I've said before it is different and different is good. I would be interested in seeing a real one before concluding that it is ok.

Keep in mind that the batmobile blows up in the movie.

Anyways, compared to many cases it lacks space completely, I think it's a good internal size. I do wonder what kinds of radiators you can fit in it though.

whats the advantage of turning the mobo tray 90 degrees??? if anything it will hinder things like dvi cables, usb drives, and so on...not sure if its worthwhile to be that different...

You can direct airflow to go straight up. Since warm air rises.

We'll find out if the temperatures drop compared to normal case layouts

Looks good but also tacky. The invocation in it will be something to see whether it actually has a difference:shrug:

Also overlord where abouts in SA are you?

looks good to me. I think it strikes a good balance between the "gamer" and usual silverstone styles.
Its just wait and see if the mobo placement makes a difference now.

i really dont like the sideways motherboard tray with the cables coming out the top.

otherwise,

its not too bad.

I like this case (as you pointed out it reminds me of the tumbler.)

I like the Silverstone are trying something different as well by mounting the motherboard tray like that. With regards to an aircooled system seeing as hot air rises it makes perfectly good sense to do it. However with dual slot coolers now issued with most of the more powerful cards that ejects the hot air straight out of the rear of the case anyway I am curious as to whether or not mounting the hardware this way would actually lower temperatures by that much.

Maybe there will not be such a need for high fan speeds in order to keep temperatures lower.

I would definately consider one of these if the price was right though.

In some strange way I like the look of this case!

If I was a young lad around ten, I would buy this case in a heartbeat!

It looks good to me, I would like to see just how effective the new mobo layout is, and how it fare in cooling tests against my HAF 932.

How much does that thing cost. And what kinda cooling does it have.

From vr-zone.com site
Silverstone is going to do a launch on their upcoming Raven RV01 case in China on the 18th of November in line with the Intel Core i7 official launch and is expected to retail at US$179 (price varies in different countries)

The only thing new in this case is motherboard tray orientation, which helps A LOT but only if you are using AirCooling, this case is a waste of money if you want to set up a good watercooling.

If they redesign the case a bit, maybe this......

Move the mobo towards the front a good 4 inches.

Thin out the area between the PSU and the mobo. That metal plate is too big.

Put 3 120mm or 3 140mm fan holes in the back. Instant internal triple rad.

Most of you guys would jump at this in half a minute.

I have actually been looking at this case and with the back there is a Panel that can be removed and looky there space for a 3x120 rad. If you still using IDE (dont know why) you either have to find the mother of all IDE cables because your going to be just a bit short or UPGRADE it costs what $20 for a disk drive. I looked at a review someone had and they were very thorough and completely took it apart. He got temps that were about 10* cooler. Some cables that had to be routed behind the mother board before like the power connector for the mobo tray you dont have to just bring them up from the psu section and the GPU power connectors. The inside of the case is actually Painted Black so it isnt the regular steel color like all the other cases. On the top there is 7cm of space for connectors to your video cards like for your monitor. But if you have to use dongles you have to upgrade or leave the top cover off.
