Anyone have any tips on what CPU cooler fan that will fit on my Maximus II Formula MB due to the vicinity of all the cooling ribs around the cpu?

What cooler are you using? As far as I know, the Maximus II Formula doesn't have anything very tall on the side opposite the connections on the back of the computer, where most people would place their fan to push out the air towards the back of the case.

Using the boxed cooler that came with my quad 9550 and it sucks basically =/

This is a pic of the board, From what i can see the thermaltake 120 extreme one i was looking at is going to collide with the ram slots i think, and also the heatsinks around the cpu if you look at the pic lower on the page.

I am using TRUE + 2x scythe push/pull + vertical mount = no issues. :)

Hmm that works, but i was hoping to maybe find one that blows towards the exhaust fan on the back of my zalman z-machine gt1000 gaming case since it has no top fan =(

Wonder if the Asus Silent Knight II fan fits

IIRC I tried using horizontal and I (guess) the fan was bumping into (something). but sorry I can't really remember exactly why it didn't work out. hopefully someone will be able to confirm this.

Hmm i guess mounting it vertically like you have won't be too bad since that means it will blow straight into my PSU, then again that could screw up my PSU i suppose. Decision's.. decision's..

I've had the TRUE mounted on my Maximus 2 Formula so the fan blew air out the back and it was fine. The fan was a Sanyo-Denki 109R1212H1011 too, so even 38mm fans on the front of it don't interfere with the RAM or RAM cooler (I have 4x2gb sticks of GSkill and a Corsair RAM cooler). The rig is being watercooled now though, so I can't provide pictures.

You'll probably be fine. You can also always try between a pull and a push setup.

Still, even if it does blow up into your PSU, it's not going to kill it.
