Hey,

I own a pair of Sennheiser PC350 headphones. The quality of the construction is superb and they are extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They also surround your ears fully and this helps to reduce background noise and increase stereo separation. At first I actually found it a bit disorientating when I listened to music with a lot of panning or played games but it does help to locate people in FPS.

As for the quality of the sound... It's quite hard for me to say at the moment, I have been using them on a computer with a pretty useless onboard Realtek soundcard and the sound is not "amazing" it actually lacks bass somewhat but I imagine this could easily be fixed with the kind of EQ you see on most decent soundcards. I'm changing to a MOTU 828mk3 shortly but I imagine you'll have made your decision by then.

It could be a fault with my pair but the in-line volume knob also crackles slightly when moved and when turned all the way down it does not reduce the volume to "zero" which can leave me rapidly trying to find the volume slider in the app I am using.

The microphone is also more than adequate, again I have only used it through my Realtek onboard sound but it records clearly.

I wish I could provide you with a bit more information on how they sound when used with a better sound card, maybe somebody here will have more of an idea. They may also be able to confirm whether or not the volume knob issues I have experienced are standard or not.

the pc350 use the same drivers as hd 595.

If you want a mic and sennheisers, you already know what you're buying.

I can't beleive the previous poster reviewed with integ. sound

knowing that both use the same drivers is good thank you for the information.

The PC350 have leather ear cups, which im not sure if id prefer them over fabric.

HD595 are open and will leak sound to an external mic at higher volumes , so thats something to consider.

Bradan - You'll notice that my post did not focus on the sound quality of the headset exactly because I have been using integrated sound. However, I don't think my comments are completely useless. Also, as far as I am aware (and just examining the headset) I do not think that the ear muffs are leather. They are VERY comfortable over long periods of time for me but they really seem more like some type of faux leather... I can't find any definite evidence on the Sennheiser site to settle this either way, I apologise if they are in-fact leather.

For more reviews on the Sennheiser PC350 check out other forums and youtube, there seems to have been a rush of video reviews... though of course they can not accurately convey sound quality but then neither can somebody writing on this board without the proper equipment required to measure each of the parameters that contribute to "sound quality".

As for the microphone quality unless you are planning to record songs or a movie or something of that nature the microphone is perfectly adequate. I really don't think that a higher quality microphone would bring any benefit when the sound is compressed by Teamspeak / Ventrilo / youtube / In-game VOIP. I have had no issues at all with feedback even when playing very, very loud games, as Bradan points out this is a benefit of the ear-cup type headset. There are samples of the microphone quality on youtube.

just about anything sennheiser will be good, for the most part. i have a pair of HD 650's coupled with a headphone amp and auzentech X-fi prelude but that combo is aimed at a whole other audience but i use them for everything.

its true, in order to make sennheiser headphones sound good/decent, you NEED a GOOD sound card to bring out the best in them. i would go for the 350's, i really dont think you'd be disappointed.

I know what your saying. There are really no external mics that are that great though, and having one clipped on or on the desk is annoying. Boom mics have the foam cover for hard p's, opposed to clipons, and won't pick up as much external noise. Since he said he was gaming I figured it was a better option.

A sound card is necessary to. A prelude has a strong enough output to power either hd650's or 350's fine, you only need an amp if you have something with more impedance anyways.(HD650)

Got it today and i must say im very impressed, very good quality and awseom sound even for music. i read people saying that it lacks bass but they are very wrong i didnt have to enable the extra bass from the X-FI.
and the mic is great even when your quiet. next step is getting a new sound card ;)

I've been thinking of changing out my headphones as well. I use Plantronics and I love the version I have but they just released a new version the Plantronics GameCom 777 so I'm kind of torn between those and the Sennheiser PC350 I use Sennheiser for my headphones on my Mp3 player and they are great for being so tiny. That's part of the reason I'm wanting to give their PC350 a whirl but I've been using Plantronics for the last 10 years or so.

Any of you guys tried the Plantronics Gamecom 777?

I dont trust 5.1 headphones, with such small cups the speakers r very small mostly like the razer 1.

PC350 sound really good but you need a sound card for get the best out of it, integrated ones have no enought power for move big drivers.
When enought power bass are really strong.
Only bad on the microphone is that is made for high noise filtering (lan parties)so need a rather loud voice on it.

I didnt think the mic is made for high noise, i always talk so quiet and i had problems with razer people not hearing me but with pc 350 people actully asks me to lower my voice.

Great headset and extremely comfortable. The ear pads are not leather, not sure what the material is but its comfortable to wear for long periods of time, bass is good with an X-Fi Extreme Gamer, but will be upgrading this card to a better one early in the new year, don't have the problem of crackle using the online volume wheel, but cant get it to completely go silent either.

Have not used the mic yet, but for the likes of team speak type apps I've heard its very good.

Biggest problem I had was getting them out of the complex packing without ruining either the headset or packing that I want to keep in case of a warranty issue.

Highly recommended.

Yes I have tried them

I bought them in January and sold them last week for a pair of Senn Pc350 :D

They arent bad but they are very bassy and crap for music. They are alright for gaming. Spend the extra money and buy the Senn PC350 they are great!!!
