I'm currently running an X1800 XT 256Mb GPU in my PC, under an EK waterblock. Its been overclocked to the edge, but Its now not sufficent for what I want, so I've ordered an Asus 4850 512Mb GPU, but I need it to be silent, so I've bought an Arctic Cooling S1 Rev. 2 for it, but I'm not sure wether or not I'll need a 120mm fan strapped onto it... Here is a pic of where the card goes in my A05-B..

It would have two low speed 120mm Yate Loon's at 7v near it.

Will this be sufficent, or should I splurge on the Thermalright T-RAD2?

The Accelero rocks. Even though it rocks, you still need to strap a fan to it, even if it's a low voltage one. At 7V you won't be able to hear the fan anyways and it'll lower your load from 90 to 60 degrees.

ahh, i seeyour mb is mounted up side down. so the ac s2 heatsink will be oriented on top of the card allowing warm air to rise!

in my case its the other way round where the ac s2 heatsink is located below the vga card, thus blocking the free flow of warm air upwards. running without a fan in this configuration is impossible!

you can try if that is different in your situation, considering the two rad fans which might also suck warm air away from the ac s2 sin. if you need to put a fan on the ac s2 sink i would let it move the air towards the two rad fans!

you need the fan to blow towards the heatsink not suck the air away. its the board, memory and vrms that heat up as well.

Ya, trap on a 120mm Noctua and you will be cool and quiet.

Okay, I've got a spare 120mm Slow speed Yate-Loon with a 7v reducer, would that be okay?

Yup, probably. Give it a shot.

that should be enough cooling. i plan to run the same setup (s1 + yate loon) on my 4850 too ^^

You could grab some fans to toss on the Accelero if you don't already have any, and it will cool incredibly. They're great heatsinks, one of those with some fans should tackle your 4850 just fine!
