fsb=245

High FSB should not affect the HD if your mobo has a good PCI lock, because you can lock the PCI bus speed at 33 MHz (the default speed). I have heard of some people having problems with their PCI lock when running 300+ FSB, but I don't remember what mobo, etc.

i got a 80gig WD JB (8mb cache) runnin 195fsb
but the fsb doesnt affect ur hd if u got a good mobo maybe some old do i dunno

Thats why I asked the question because some boards (Via Socket 754) dont have the Agp/pci lock. And I want to buy a harddrive that can handle very high fsb without nag.

i think western digitals (JBs) r a good choice... but i never thought of such problems...
i use amd so i wont reach too high fsbs...

I use a Raptor and haven't had a problem with it at 286 (most I can get with this Aeroflow).

I'm running Maxtor and WD drives on my kid's kr7a's. 200 FSB and 4:2:1 dividers. All running DMA, NP for over a year now.

On my back up rig (sig) using single 80GB wd SE. FSB @ 230
Main has 2-100GB WD 2mb in Raid-0 with a Highpoint RocketRaid ATA133 pci card. 60GB Maxtor ATA133 as backup. Was running 235FSB. Not 1 problem.
Main is down cuz i blew the new barton in less than a week  waiting a new one now.

I have been using a seagate barra 3 20gb 7200rpm drive in my KT333 while benching. The max divider it has is 1/5, and when i bench it is 230fsb and up. Which means the PCI speed is over 46MHz. The hard drive hasn't gotten any bad sectors and still works perfectly fine.

That board has to have a 1/6 divider which would put it at 38mhz. NO hard drive / PCI Bus can run at 46mhz. Your HD is not the only thing that runs on that. :stick:

Soulburner - did you even read my post? The ABIT KR7a has a 4:2:1 divider, no /5 or /6 and I run 3 of them at 200 FSB 24/7 for over a year now - for a 200/4==50 MHz PCI/IDE bus and a 200/4*2==100 MHz AGP bus. No problem, these rigs are used for surfing, gaming, development and full-time folding at home.
The SS below was my stable high-water mark with the kr7a. I could get one to run for light surfing in Win2k at 213 but the boards were notorious for losing the BIOS above 200. Never lost a HD, a floppy, a CD (even burn at 200), a video card - NADA!
Just because it seems "impossible" to you doesn't mean it can't be done, and done reliably!

Certainly not a "proud" 3dmark score, but the GF2 GTS-V that did this score is still running in my son's kr7a, again at 200 FSB 24 by 7 and for well over a year :)

Soulburner: As has been pointed out by sjohnson, it is possible to run that high PCI speeds.
My mobo does NOT have a 1/6 divider and the HDD works fine at that speeds. I don't use any PCI cards though.

PCI cards? Heck, how about Speedstream and Motorola 802.11b cards, SB Live!, Philips and Aureal Sound cards, dLink 830TX and Intel Pro 100 net cards. NP here, the all run fine at 50 MHz.

Very odd...i've never seen anything work at that speed before, thats why they invented the dividers....all my stuff craps out above 36.

IMHO, it's not the divider but the board design AND quality that lets you run high bus speeds.
All my kr7a run 50 MHz PCI/100 MHz AGP (or better) but my kx7 (with /5 divider) had terrible AGP tearing above 206 FSB (82.4 MHz AGP) and HD corruption unless DMA was off.

Also if I run my AGP at 72mhz my video scores go to hell, its a lot faster for me at 66mhz.
45MHz fine on a Abit KR7A with a couple of little Quantum Fireballs (7200 and 5400 rpm).
