I've got a revision 2 Asus P4C800-E here flashed to the latest official bios. It does 300fsb stable at default vcore with this Malay 2.4 I'm using, but it will not do a single mhz above that stable, no matter what vcore I use or cooling, for that matter, on the northbridge. At the moment I am using Waterchill rev2. I've got good contact on the NB block, and am using AS3 as the compound. I'm also watercooling my 9800Pro via the same kit. I am cooling the cpu via a MachII. If I notch the fsb up by 1mhz it will boot into windows no problem but everything runs sloooooow. The windows update slowly and eventually the screen will flash off and will return at 640x480 in 16 colours. I'm not sure why this is  The thing is, the chip before (a 2.8ES) would do exactly the same - 300fsb stable and not a mhz over that. I don't know if it's a chip thang, or a problem with the board - my last Asus would do 320FSB without a hitch so this has me baffled...

its bcoz of ur AGP/PCI... trying rasing it to 72 , 75 or 80..
this may help u to get above 300fsb stable...
if bios wun work.... try using "clockgen"
good luck

I wish it was that problem mate - I forgot to mention that I've already set the agp/pci lock to 72mhz. So what's clockgen all about?

Be careful using ClockGen, I tried changing my AGP/PCI speed and the system locked and on reboot my Raptor wasn't detected anymore. I had to cold boot it to get back into windows.

i'm pretty sure u were running RAID with the raptor(s) huh? the problem was with the RAID, not clockgen :)

Well I tried clockgen and it screwed my system up so I'm not doing that again. However, I decided to try my trusty Ti4200 and guess what - 315fsb without a glitch. So the problem is the ATi card it would seem.

Yep I have the same problem with mine I have the same mobo running a 2.6c goes into windows at 310x13 but is very very slow tryed clockgen and did the same thing. I figured out its not the memory cause it does it even if its running at 200 and can give the memory 3.00v to 3.23v and makes no difference. Really weird:stick:

Aha! So you didn't give up! :toast:
You tried the 2.6 huh...and you got higher than your 2.8, nice work :D.
Now you just need RAM capable of that 5:4 ratio (250mhz, will take some juice for that) and you'll be golden.

Hey Soul, ya I gave in today and got a 2.6c actually a very nice chip running right now at 300fsb so not bad, but anything over and windows is so flipping slow its stupid. Well atleast this chip goes into windows over 4.0g's but its slower than a 300mhz cyrix, lol. The ram is doing better than I thought it would for sure had the to back the timings to 2,3,2,7 with 3.10v to them and ran memtest for awhile with no errors so thats good.

Well at least we know the chip is capable, if you can fix this 300fsb slowness issue you would be ready to go after macro (and beat him) again. I wonder if he had this problem or not?

Try chaning the agp between 66mhz and 80mhz like they said.
It seems its not locking above 300mhz, as many people have reported this problem and been able to pass it by playing with their AGP speed.

Ya its seems like a good chip, its a SL6WH Malay so far it overclocks better than my 2.8c and 3.0c
EDIT: I changed it to the second option in bios I can't remember what it was something like 72/36 I think and it did nothing to help the problem.

Just boot in windows at 290 33/33 then use clockgen and set the agp/pci at 73.33/36.66.... should do the trick....

Hey corrupt you shouldn't have much trouble using 80 on AGP in Bios with the RAID if your not using the promise controller. Hmm my guess is Macro is going down...:)

You guys must know I wont go down without a fight...... corrupt, that 313x13 is only good if you have the rams for it, if not then youd be stuck at 3:2 which isnt gonna help your score..... BTW its still your turn:D

Yeah you need 250mhz capable RAM right on the dot, definetely gonna take some juiced up BH5 goodness.
This will be interesting :D.

Just a little something something for ya, I got a screenie at 4108mhz but I didn't bother to post it since it says so on this link. And its got alot more to go for sure. 24,234 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7127230)
EDIT: The ram was at 3:2 for that run only running at 210 needless to say this cpu is GOLDEN.

Glad your smiling again.:D
You got more than a screeny there at 4120

Yeah those are some nice FPS so far but theres a lot more to be gained it looks like. For one the Nature is low. Two, that was only 3:2.....I wouldn't doubt that rig has 25k in it.
