Well after 1 1/2 weeks i think i finished my tests with the stuff using a rotary single stage cooler (9K BTU compressor)..

Let`s see:
Specs :
- MB: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 (F4f bios rocks... )
- CPU: Core i7-965XE 3835A
- MEM: Adata 3ple Gaming series 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 :mad: and 2*1gb Transcend 1800mhz 8-8-8-24 (Samsung HCF8) :D
- VGA : 2*Asus 4870X2 (TOP bios)..one card vgpu modded (880/1000 - air),second card stock (850/1000 - air)
- PSU: Corsair HX1000

Max Vcore in bios was 1.5875V,max Vqpi 1.275V and max Vdimm 2.08V.

Lets begin with some 2D tests....

nice testing giorgos as usual, how do you find windows server 2008 benchwise what % difference would you say it makes , its seems the i7 core really boosts 3dmark 05 surprisingly as that would be a score for a around 6ghz e8600,thanks

in wprime,pcmark the difference is well known....
also 2-3 fps gain in 05-06 with identical settings,drivers etc etc..

the problem is any OS with Vista core........
Nvidia or ATI you always have lower score than XP...
what i dont understand is why that stupid card keeps running one core 3D in GT4 @ 3Dmark06....
i`ve got some 29.5K+ scores but no go.......

small update for my 965....
today i tested it on cascade....
no cold bug...no cold boot...(-102C lower temp cascade reached)
BUT the win installation was sooooo crappy,that we couldn`t even run one single 3D test.....also the 32m score makes me cry....:mad:
cpu-z verification with 1.53Vcore...
nevermind....next time....:)

I Checked your Result again and i don't understand : CF-X just gave you 1200 Points more in 3D06 than one 4870X2 ??
Shouldn't TWO 4870X2 Cards give you al least 5000-7000 more points in 3D06 than Using One 4870X2 Card ??

Also How much Power this takes from PSU ??Or wall ?? (if you have VoltCraft please tell us) .

It's Just weird that i Have QX9650 and ONE Card (at the Moment) 4870x2
And i can do 24-25K 3D06 (QX@4.6ghz)

we had terrible problems with OSes and these results were just to get an idea.....and to see if there is a cold bug/cold boot....
it`s just that my 965 was playing nice at my SS too (-45C load)...
i still have results i haven`t posted......f.e. Vantage cpu score ~30K....
i believe with a set of fresh XP/Server2008 and a weekend free we could do some good damage....:)

Lol, I'll be happy if my SS holds at -26C when loaded up with this monster CPU... It's a bit too weak, tuned for high loads tho not cold temps (~280W)

it depends what you use for insulation....
with armaflex it`s very difficult....
with coal rubber it`s a piece of cake....

Thing is, I really run 24/7 so my insulation has to be perfect. With just armaflex and neoprene gaskets, my insulation has been perfect for almost a year now (no grease on the CPU or socket) so I'd like to stick to that method ;)

both cards on air with ~1.37Vgpu....
unfortunately Vantage denied to run with an eror while loading cpu tests....:mad:
graphics were ok....
maybe a fresh win installation is needed....
also had ALWAYS the stupid CF GT4 bug.....so CF 06 is not good.....:mad:

What mems are those exactly? I got D9GTR as well, but 2GB sticks, I presume I won't be breaking any records with 6GB.. but 24/7 use has priority with me ;)
Might gain some more by raising uncore one notch? Around 4Ghz is the stable limit no?

very nice giorgos as usual its amazing how fast 3dmark05 is for the frequency as generally with 3d05 its all about cpu speed and with a yorkdale quad it was no faster than a dual but with the nehalem i would say its over 15% quicker than the dual core, nice going

I have a 3838A648 i920 here.
It's 24/7 stable at 4.2GHz with the Ultra-120, and benchable ( 3D Mark Vantage, wPrime 1024m, 3D Mark06, etc ) at 4.3GHz ( still on the Ultra-120 ).
Not bad, but not great either.
But what can I do with my "luck" :D

i've benched '06 as high as 4725MHz stable with current setup and i only have R290 from cooking bottle in there and a quick tuning (20 minute job) over a year ago while kayl was here....apparently our R290 from cooking bottles is better quality than US stuff though...not pure stuff but seems to do a good job....i have a rotary in mine (1hp) which helps hold load too :D
