Hi guys

Did some quick benching last night on SS and couldnt go to bed until i hit sub 8m time with this i7 920 chip :D

This motherboard is sweet......but i wish i could run higher QPI.......221MHz stable > another MHz up and it bluescreens heh....damn it Intel fix up this QPI limit :D
Gigabyte engineers also confirmed QPI is limiting bus speed

i could run same clocks with 2 and 4 cores...just thought i'd try the latter

I still havent tweaked subtimings in full as it was experimental
there is also a bit more tweaking to do...and have to figure out CW as its not working on i7 CPU

Test Configuration:

Gigabyte X58-UD5 F4F bios
Intel Core i7 920 retail chip 3837A899
3GB 1866MHz CAS8 DDR3 Corsair Dominators (TR3X3G1866C8D)
884MHz 7-7-7-20-1T TRCF-60, TRRD-4 1.9v
(didnt test higher lower just selected save volts for quick runs)
1GB Gigabyte GTX280 Graphics Card
1000W HX1000 Corsair PSU
1hp C-BuZz Single Stage (kayl evap)
160GB IDE Hard Drive
Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3

1M SuperPi - 8.890s
Rol-Co says dual channel RAM runs faster in 1M so gotta try that next :D

very nice, time to open up a third color in the 32M LCC. it is killing me to have to watch from the sidelines...next week can't come soon enough.

hi dinos22,cpu tweaker can't adjust cas latency?and any newer version of memset available,is it adjust it?thanks, sorry my poor english

dinos22
11-30-2008, 06:34 PM
nah man it cannot adjust it yet :(

Dinos, Can we get a pick of the rig itself?

Dino,

Awesome runs :) I see you using 1.52 vcore. What were the other voltages set at to get you 221 Mhz?

hi mate

very simple setup
Vcore was 1.52v in idle and load as i have the droop mod
vdimm was around 1.9v from memory
QPI volts 1.5v
pretty sure 1.4v was ok for QPI too but i bumped it anyways

thats it :)

Dinos, Can we get a pick of the rig itself?yeah i have a big thread in my sig regarding detailed testing so lots of photos in there

so cpu tweaker just adjust all timing except cas latency?

so cpu tweaker just adjust all timing except cas latency?

no. it only reads timings

i adjusted timings in bios

great work mate!

whats max Bus Speed on air?
does the cooling improves the max Bus Speed?

realy nice memory dino! I am always wait for mine... *grml*

Hey mate, really top job there!
Is that speed bootable? Do not see clockgen/setfsb there. :D

P.S. I wonder, yeah I am indeed wondering badly, how that guy got to 229MHz QPI... would really come in handy now.

yeah bennys board or CPU is just a freak

i will experiement some more
i havent touched PLL and some of the other settings

doubt it will do anything but i'll try :D

i was booting at 215 which was my air boot test before i hit cold :)

Hy Dino, really nice run with un-tweaked subtimings. Let's play with the other settings that you've left and make some mess there :D

Sretno ;)

Benny bios was a special one, he sent it to me , when loaded show version as Dx, it dont have qflash util on boot and showed a orange light near cpu at stock boot, so i got a bit scared and avoid test it on my 24/7 on air pc ;)

If want test it dinos , pm me :)

dinos22
12-01-2008, 02:45 AM
were you able to get similar clocks in QPI

Ghigo
12-01-2008, 03:02 AM
I no tested it really, saw the orange light from default near cpu socket guessed is a subzero tuned bios ;)

My board is internation shipped no feel to kill it and do another international shipping for the rma.

Well the bios miss the f12 option on boot for qflash but entering the bios menu , qflash here work.

what made you think that
what does orange light mean

send it i'll test it
just post here or PM me the bios

if it works i will get bios engineers to tell me WTF it does and if it would be safe to implement

maaan i swear my next bench session will be spent on max bus speed
if i cant figure out how to run it higher than 221MHz in 7-8 hours straight i give up :D

i might get a 965 for higher numbers donno

He's probably talking about the voltage indication LEDs. Green for safe, yellow for warning, orange/red for high voltage. I don't have an GA-EX58-xxx yet so I don't know what the voltage scaling is like but I imagine red is around 1.6v
