How to remove the socket retention on the Asus K8V Deluxe?
I removed the black thing already but there is a metal plate at the bottom of the motherboard.
How do I remove that?
I want to install the Zalman heatsink.

Solved it.
I have 2 x Corsair XMS 3500 rams.
I had put them in slot 1 and slot 3 and the system didn't start.
I removed the ram from slot 1 and the system started without a problem.
Now my ram is in slot 3 only.

Update the BIOS to 1003.12 and put RAMs to 1 and 2 slot. The 1002 BIOS has some wierd bootup problems with 2 sticks of RAM.

Why remove the back plate when using Zalman CNPS7000? It uses the back plate as attachment for the stand-offs??

yes either use windows utility or simply burn the whole thing on cd it's safer than floppy drives imo.
