Does anyone have the Albatron K8X800? What do you think about it? How high can you go with it? Manoj didnt like it I read hes board did 225mhz then suffered from hd corruption (just like my MSI) Is Asus the only one of the viaboard that has some Agp/Pci lock?
Is Albatron known for making O/C motherboards?
for their AMD XP line-up that sure wasn't the case, their latest P4 mobo's fare in the average regions if I'm not mistaken...

I need your help.
I am trying to install the Zalman heatsink on the Asus K8V Deluxe.
Can you tell me how to uninstall the socket retention that is already install on the Asus K8V?
I removed the black thing already but there is the metal plate at the bottom which I can't seem to remove it.
I need to remove it so that I can install the Zalman heatsink.

Stinger right now the Asus K8V and the Gigabyte K8Npro seem to be the best choice. I say right now, next month and there will be several more choices including the abit, and IMO both Asus and Abit will offer NF3-250 socket 754 mb's too.

Yes I'v seen that but I havent had any luck with my K8v it doesnt matter what I do I cant get over 245mhz I'v tried everything and I have 2 set of mem 2x256mb bh5 and 2x256mb ocz pc3500EL the vcore mod is buggy if I turn the VR to low even if it shows 1.7v at the lowest it doesnt boot so 245 is the highest I get I have -43 under load with my prommy and biostemp shows -15 deg

Stinger it could be the agp bus freq is too high, you should try going straight to 260mhz ! I hit a wall at 250mhz and wouldn't boot into windows, but 260mhz works perfect.
