Can anyone recommend a good sound card that can handle high levels of bass?

This new mobo of mine doesn't. My old BX2 with the IDT drivers and sonic focus under Vista x64 could deliver bone crushing bass that didn't clip or drop. I couldn't stand to run it all the way up.

That's my major complaint. When heavy bass hits it seems like the sound drops out a bit with my current setup. I hate it, and I've encountered it on separate sound cards before too.

BTW I don't give a flip about gaming reverb effects and such.

How much do you want to spend?
I have Creative X-FI extreme audio 1X pci-e, in my HTPC. It has nice deep bass which doesn´t fade whenever the heavy bass is produced but once in a while i get the cracking sound. I think the best money i spent was on creative´s low end card Audigy SE. It´s in my main gaming rig and the good thing about it is that all the X-FI component of the X-FI extreme audio enabled. I don´t get cracking sound or bluescreen as most guys are saying all over the internet and am using the original Creative´s Vista driver for the audigy SE card. The good thing is that it´s only €20.

Bluegears b-enspire sound card. great bass through both optical and analog. Has good processing, good sound quality, and a nice EQ section.

If you EQ your headphones right, then turn on the Dolby Headphone and possible the Prologic II settings you get the most amazing sounding headphones you have ever heard.

I'm quite a bass lover and crank it high up for my bassy "Sennheiser HD 212 Pro" headphones with my old SoundBlaster Audigy card using 3rd party kX Audio drivers which beats the crap outta Creative's drivers. Now this driver allows you to load different plugins, filters, EQs etc for various use. To get the boomy bass I like I load 2x instances of the 10-band EQ and drag up the sliders that affect bass and also loaded a 3rd plugin that has 2 sliders, bass & treble. I could use A LOT MORE bass than I'm using but then I'd only hear the bass. :D
