The EastKoast duo a.k.a. Moonman & tiborrr had some fun the new Q9650 E0 stepping CPU over the weekend. The final frequencies aren't quite as extreme as we have hoped due to upwards locked multiplier and relatively low FSB wall (~ 517MHz), but we still managed to get the #1 place according to hwbot.org (http://hwbot.org/listResults.do?cpuModelId=1668&applicationId=7&filterUser=true&filterBlocked=true&limit=100) in SuperPI 32M thus beating the most powerful Core 2 platform - X48 Rampage Extreme + DDR3.

Pure performance DDR2 > DDR3  The CPU is a great clocker, similiar clocks can be achieved on air cooling and all we were missing was an unlocked multiplier (god i wish they would make QX9650 E0). Due to the FSB wall usage of colder means of cooling was not necessary (-100°C cascade was standing by).

P.S.: Wprime could have been quite faster with newer OS, we'll have to check this out next weekend :yepp:

Thanks guys, we'll keep on pushing it, especially Wprime on Vista / Win2008 and try cascade cooling aswell to see if it buys a MHz or two of FSB after all.
