5GHZ+ 32M with I7 965, REX2 and SS Phase

After a lot of testing, like almost everyone here, I have managed to bench beyond the 5GHZ barrier @ Superpi 1m and Superpi 32m using a Single Stage Phase Change.

Specs :
- Asus Rampage 2 Extreme
- Triple (3x1GB) Corsair 1866 CL9
- Intel I7 965 XE ES (Batch 3831A460)
- PCI Voodoo Banshee 16MB Card
- 200 GB Harddisk Seagate STAT2
- 1000 Watt PC Power & Cooling
- Cooled : Single Stange Phase stange
- 2 Modded A/C in cascade.

This was not easy I can tell you, it seems that when you are around the 5GHZ, some strange things happens and you system is not booting into windows at all. Everytime you run agains some kind of wall.
The trick is to find the right combination between bclcks/uclcks/QPI/Multiplier and memory speed combined with the right voltages. What I have managed up till now is :

Superpi 1M : 8,093 sec @ 5075 MHZ

Please note : This was just to see how high it got, the eff. is not good I know. It is a old install with no tweaks and a almost dead harddisk :(

Superpi 32M : 7min 33sec 625msec @ 5005 MHz.
I have already bench @ 5040 MHZ, but @ loop 23 it rebooted :-(.

Next steps :
It seems that there is more, because as you can see the difference between Superpi 1M and Superpi 32M is almost nothing.
So, first I will start to get a clean install on a new harddisk and try to go higher.
When I have some more info I will post them here and share it with you.

The temps of the cpu I do not know, because the Asus Rampage 2 Extreme has also problems with the temps sensors.
But the temp of the evap was -35 degrees (measured with a thermometer).

It kinda sux tho, no benefit for LN2 users, these aint temp/voltage limited, more like design limited for extreme overclocking and the wall comes suprisingly soon too sometimes. This wall you'd push far away with Core 2 on LN2 but with i7 it just doesn't work. :( Nice chip for air/water/SS users tho.

Yes I can't wait to put mine under my Jinu SS Phase.

Seeing as it is holding a 4.8ghz QX9770 at -40c. Keep in mind that this QX9770 was 43c with a stock intel HS and stock settings, it should be good to go with a Core i7 965.

I'am able to boot @ 4800+MHZ with 8 cores and do some single threated benchmarks like Superpi 1m, 32m and pifast.
But no way that I can do Multi threated benchmarks like Wprime, Cinebench 10 en 3DMark06 and Vantage. The Single Stage can not handle the temps.
During the 3DMark Vantage CPU test the EVAP temp is changes from -36 degrees till -17 degrees.
With 4 cores you can have a stable system with a decent / good cpu like mine :D. What we already have found out is that every cpu has some kind off sweetpoints. With a sweetpoint we mean the right combination between the bclcks/uclcks/qpi/memory etc and all the voltages.
Also it seems that oneven multipliers are much better than even multipliers.
One of the following (or even all) multiplier (27/29/31/33/35) are good for almost every cpu. For mine 29, 31 and 35 are the best from the list.
Around these multipliers you have to find the right clcks and voltages.
Next week I will post some difference bios settings. But I'am now to busy with other things.

These memory are coming direct from Corsair and will be used in a contest we have this weekend agains Sweden and Finland (Kinc and Sampa etc) in the battle of the North :)

One more question: For what loads is your SS tuned?
Mine is optimized for high loads (holds 260W at -28C, peak ~280W but doesn't go below -30C even with 150W loaded).
