Hello guys,

I just register here, and hope you guys can help me out.

As the thread title i am planing to buy new Gaming rig. Well i am planing to OC the system later too al least 4Ghz 24/7 or even more. Below is the item that i am interested.

Proc: Intel C2D E8400 E0
Mobo: Gigabyte EP45 UD3P/Biostar TP IP45/Asus P5Q Pro
RAM: Kingston Hyperx 1066 PC8500 1Gbx2 5-5-5-15
GC: Gainward 4850 GS 512MB/ Galaxy 9800GTX+ 512MB
HDD: Seagate 500GB 32 MB
PSU : Silverstone Strider ST56F/ Cooler Master Real Power Pro 550W

I am having problem to pick up the Mobo,GC and PSU not really sure which one to choose.

Also i am upgrading from ancient Intel Celeron to c2d. Plus, i wont be upgrading for at least 2 years.

Is OCing our Proc,Mobo,Ram and GC void the warranty?

Thanks :)

not a bad setup really how much does it come out to...and also i would recommend a wd caviar black 32mb cache for your hard drive instead of the seagate preferably the 640gb its like $10 more and seem to have better quality and a longer life than the seagates and a tad more speed

The above setup cost me around USD700. It seem like a good choice but the hdd is not available around my place. That why i go with the seagate.
Hope you guys can give me some info regarding the Mobo and GC, since i am not sure which one to choose.

dude you need to go to newegg.com not to many people can beat there deals i could build your rig for $600 and forget the gtx+ you can get a gtx260 core 216 superclocked on newegg for $235...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130372 and the mobo your looking at will clock the guts out of an e8400 so just stick with it..or get the ud3r cuz its $15 cheaper and will give you what you need unless you want crossfire and remember crossfire and sli arent the same thing you need an nvidia mother board to run sli

yeah newegg.com have a great offer but since they do not provide international shipping and for warranty purpose it's better to get the stuff at local shop.

The gtx260 is a great card but around here it cost a bomb. That why i have only 2 choice either Galaxy 9800GTX+ or Gainward 4850 GS 512MB. My budget is something around USD700.

well i would get the 4850 than plus it has a lower power consumption..and stick with ud3p if you want to get another later for xfire

indeed the 4850 have lower power consumption. And i have read some review to about the Gainward 4850 GS, it has a few FPS higher than 9800GTX+ but the Gainward 4850 GS is not very overclock able. On the other hand 9800GTX+ could be OC to 860/1245.The price for 9800GTX+ is cheaper by 10buck.Hmm which one to get

but you cant run 2 nv cards on your board but you can run two 4850,s and 4850,s are overclockable

well that true too. But i wont be CF cause it's not really stable and it's better to go with single GPU.

WELCOME first off and if you are getting ready to buy I would wait for Black Friday deal from newegg and tigerdirect and see what they have going on sale you may even be able to get your CPU and crap for cheap.

From what I saw in the list looks pretty good.
I ahve the 9800GTX+ and i havent OC yet but i will and I know you can get it to atleast 850 easy or around there.
For PSU just get one that is high quality if you are going to OC anything. 500Ws should do but if you find a higher one cheaper may as well go with that for future builds you may do.

hes in another country and black friday is happening right now i made a whole thread on it..and 500watt is fine just check how many amps it runs you want 30 amps or better..would be ideal for your situation i wouldnt go more than 650watts unless you were going to run a 4870x2 and even than with enough amps you would be fine find the card you want and look up its power consumption and amp draw

Yup planing to get atleast 550W and above PSU.
the Silverstone is regarded as a good PSU over here. Not sure about it there.

You can get 25 percent off if you use live cashback through ebay. mwave is on ebay as techtreasure.. can get a couple hundred off i7 cpu/mb/ram going that route.

If you are looking at PSUs in that power range check out some of the corsair models. High quality and pretty good prices. Although I have to admit the prices I know are in the US so I'm not sure how those work out in other countries

It would help if you'd mention what country you're in. Prices range significantly from location to location and some parts aren't even available in some areas. For example, finding a cheap 9800GX2 is almost impossible in Switzerland.

just went to the shop, and the silverstone were out of stock, but the corsair 550w is available, might just get that one.

Hi Guys,
Just came back from the IT plaza. One of the Shop recommended me to get Team Xtreem Dark DDR2 PC2 8500 DDR2 1066MHz CL5 (2*1GB) while another shop recommended me to get OCZ DDR2 PC2-9600 Reaper HPC Edition (2x1GB)the price different is only $5. Which one should i get or is it better to stick with the Hyperx 1066 2x1GB ?

By the way i think i am going to get either Palit 4870 Sonic 512MB or Gainward 4870 512MB GS but the problem is i don't know which one to get. These 2 card are very similar to each other but why the gainward has higher price? Which one should i pick?

About the overclocking voiding your warranty... depends on the company. Check the warranty before you buy.

As for your ram, a gaming rig should have at least 4 gigs especially is you're running Windows Vista. Look for low latency ram.

looks like solid choices all around. Good to see the 4870 for the GC, offers great upgradability if you ever want to add a second in CF. Hope everything works out well!
