I do not recommend wireless routers for security flaws but if you wanted to go wireless this is a good choice.:D

Honestly if you are looking for some information about routers and/or switches the best place is google. Tons of quick free information. For small LANs switches are probably more efficient than routers. Do some research and you will be fine. Wireless routers are also plenty secure as long as you use wpa encryption instead of wep and don't broadcast the signal. Seriously, just do some reading.

Hi sokzzN1
Consumersearch lists 3 routers
D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router
TRENDnet TEW-631BRP 300Mbps Wireless N-Draft Router
Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster

Linksys WRT160N Wireless-N Ultra RangePlus Broadband Router.
I have the cheap "affordable" WRT150N Flashed bios with DD-WRT Firmware
You could/should flash a router with a third party linux firmware so that it will handle the connections if your gaming multiplayer via internet or p2p'ing. It's very easy to do.
Wireless internet sharing from the router is great and safe as long as you use the correct WPA security like cobra_kai said.
There are similar threads like yours asking about good routers:

It's pretty hard to give you a "Top 5" routers when we don't know what you want it for. Routers are like anything else in computing - you buy what meets your individual needs.

You say you don't want a wireless router, so spending money on wireless is going to probably be a big waste unless you plan on going wireless in the future.

How many PCs do you want to have connected?
