What is the best 24" gaming lcd monitor?

I have the same monitor, and games look superb; as long as you tweak the monitor correctly..

This monitor looks better than the Dell 2407WFP-HC I had before, even though the latter cost nearly 200 more.

The FHD2400 looks great because of the glossy surface, which really brings out the colors by making them more vibrant and crisp.

The monitor has some drawbacks though.

1) It's prone to more than a little backlight bleeding, so if you buy it, make sure you get a warranty just in case.

2) It's a TN panel, which really isn't much of a drawback unless you're going to do work which requires high color accuracy or expanded viewing angles (photo imaging for instance)

Yeah, the glossy finish helps alot. Some people can't stand it but others love it. I personally love the glossy.

It's prone to backlight bleeding but all you have to do is turn the brightness to 0. That is actually the backlight control. If you leave it at anything over 0 your monitor gets warmer than it should (not damaging heat but heat non-the-less) and the extensive extreme heat eats at the coating underneath, which in turn causes extreme backlight bleeding. I bought my monitor several months ago and have absolutely no problems with backlight bleed when I'm playing dark games such as Left 4 Dead.



2) It's a TN panel, which really isn't much of a drawback unless you're going to do work which requires high color accuracy or expanded viewing angles (photo imaging for instance)

You're not going to find too many 24" non-tn panels anymore for a reasonable price. It seems that manufacturers have moved to TN which is (I think) more cost effective.

The monitor overall though after tweaking it, is great.

Do get the extended warranty though. If you buy it at best buy then the warranty is a warranty where they will fix your monitor if anything goes wrong with it. Although backlight bleeding is not a fixable problem, so in that case they will have to replace it. You just have to be firm about it and make their retarded ass geek squad turn on your monitor in a dark room to see the backlight bleed (if it happens to you over time).

If you have any questions I'd be happy to try and answer them about this monitor. I love it.

I suppose you turn your monitor brightness to 0, but increase the brightness from the video card driver panel to compensate?

I just tried turning my brightness to 0, but it made the colors look too drab for my tastes..

I don't want to go to any other monitor because it's got brilliant color and the refresh rate is fast. Input lag is damn near non-existent as well. i can get the iiyama 24", i can get the hp 24" that on prad.de are said to be good for gaming, i can get all except the gateway, however i've found it on a german. check there http://prad.de/en/monitore/buyers-guide/gamer24.html they put your monitor on the top of the list...

When you say the HP 24", do you mean the LP2475w?

If I'm not mistaken, it's an IPS based panel, so that might be your best shot.

Just do this:

Find the monitors that are available to you.

Read every review you can. http://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=78 is a really good place for threads on monitors where you can find more information about probably any good monitor you would want to know about.

When you decide upon it from the reviews you read then pick it up in-store. I don't know about over in Italy but in the US at places like Bestbuy if you buy it and you don't like how it looks then you can take it back etc for a refund. You can also take it back if you have any dead pixels.

If you can't buy it in a Brick and Mortar store then order it online but try to find an e-tailer that will offer some sort of no dead pixel guarantee or some sort of extended warranty etc.

Some places dead pixel policies are based off of manufacturer's policy. So if your monitors company says that it has to have 8 dead pixels over the entire monitor or a cluster of 3 in a 1"x1" area. Just make sure you know what you are getting into when ordering monitors online.

Just make an informed decision and you can't go wrong. There are many more options if you are buying in the USA but since you are not, I'm limited to the suggestions I can give you. I have done a ton of research and there were many features on the FHD2400 that made me want it despite it's small flaws.

because CRT brightness is around 100 and LCD is supposed to be120/cdm which is around photo edit perfect brightness. it looks drab because brightness reduces the saturation of the colors. ideally, brightness should be set quite low (between the 0-30 range) and contrast quite high (between the 60-80 range, but no higher, the picture will start washing out very badly)

i set my old benq FW24(something) to 0 brightness and it STILL wouldnt hit anywhere near that after calibration. it wouldnt go below 160/cdm which for me at least in a low lit room is still much too bright - even the guy i sold it to said the same thing, so i know its not me or my eyes

the BenQ G2400W has no input lag, one of the few 24's with no input lag, great lcd IMO.

The original G2400W was the fastest in terms of input lag. I don't remember it being more than a frame behind a CRT. But that was special in terms of lag.

The V2400W and G2400WD came later and on average were only a few ms higher, but could swing up on rare occasion to two frames. Never more though.

To be honest, I could never notice any input lag on any of those screens, nor can I on the E2200HD or M2400HD, which are in terms of input lag slightly lower than the V2400W on average.

OK I just set it to 30, but at that setting, there are lots of details in pics and games that are much harder to see.

I have to be squinting at the screen, and thats not a good thing.

The lowest I think I could go would be 35. The colors actually look nicer at that setting, providing the pictures or games have good lighting (which many of them don't)

It all depends on your monitor and the picture displayed only. Input lag is the delay from the input signal to the image displayed on the screen. It isn't constant on every lcd cause it depends on the image currently displaying and the processing it needs.


Mouse responsiveness delays the image before it's "send" to the monitor. So it has nothing to do with input lag but it has many things to do with the responsive feeling from your pc.

I agree with u m8, that everything adds up to the total responsiveness of your system and mouse is a major aspect here. However i was pointing out the difference between general lag and specific monitor input lag, which was nothing to do with mouses.
