Wasent it 550 earier today?

Over 300 is way to much on a vid card for me. Hell my gf2 MX (first card) was 100, my Ti200 was 150 and I splurged a masive 250 for my 9800np. WOW, I'm one cheap bastard :p:

Yeah, it was $550 earlier this afternoon.

Well hey, if you can sell it for $600 initially, why the hell not.

Thats a shame from newegg. They usually sell everything at lowest as possible compared to any online store. 600 bucks is just even too scary to look at....Im shocked, 250 bucks extra for just like 30+ mhz????? Hell its cheaper doing a vmod and get 500mhz for just 350 bucks.........Whats sad is that there are people who will purchase something like that.

Actually,
Newegg does this stuff ALL the time...the A64 started odd at $499 and now it's $405...
The Max3 was what? like $259....
Same old story! Very often you can save a few bucks over at zipzoomfly.com (f.k.a. Googlegear) but I'm looking for a store out of California with good prices so I can avoid sales tax :D

Shiznit!

I remember paying $225 for ti4600 and I had to eat soup and sandwich for 3 weeks afterwards. I spend $600 on this and I'll definately have to go straight to the soup kitchens

I thought they passed a law in Congress restricting Internet taxes everywhere including California???

Ah hah, complaining about prices...
You think you have it bad.... (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=10603)

as ch!mera said, we really get the short end of the stick :(

then pair that with the xt, and some fun expensive registered ram and you've got yourself a really fast system.
Also consider putting in a window so you can get a decal that says Debt-mobile!

Just your basic supply/demand routine.

If this is the way the pricing on these is gonna go then I would suggest that anyone planning on getting one of these cards go to ATI and order it up pronto.

Gee, I wonder if anyone would feel bad about RMA'ing a card at this price;)

Alot of resellers are selling the card for $550 or $570.

I thought the card is supposed to sell for $500.

If Half Life 2 is not bundled then it should sell for about $450.

no way you're going to get it for $450. including hl2 in the bundle adds no more than $15 to the pricetag, probably much thanks to the 6 million ati paid in the auction. $600 is insane, but it's unfortunately a growing trend that i hope stops.

It's called supply and demand guy's. While supply is low and ATI is trying to launch the XT prices will be genrally higher after some of the market has been reached prices will drop down to the 500.00 range. We have all paid a few extra $$$$$ before to have one of the first products on the market. I paid 425.00 for a leadtek TI4600 a few years ago at its lauunch. ATI is incuding a gift certificate for half life 2 in the box.

What I dont understand is why you guy's that are crying about the amount of $$$$ (that live in the USA) it is costing. Why dont you buy your cards from Comp-USA along with a upgrade policy. I learned my leason on the TI4600 and have been puchasing from Comp-USA ever since and now it dosn't cost me 500.00 to get a XT Just pay the sales tax and purchase anouther upgrade policy 75.00. If I fuge it up during a mod or burn it up it only costs Tax+ upgrade policy. No questions asked. If you break a mem chip off removing a heat sink, dont worry about it just pay the man the tax + upgrade policy.

You can purchase a 9800p and a month later or when ever you have save some extra cash do a upgrade to the next best card and it might cost ya 150.00 thats what it cost me to go from a 9800p to my *ucked up 5900U. And make sure to only purchase the 1 year plan as none will want hold onto thier card for 2 years. They do this with all thier products from Comp-USA. You can do this with motherboards, cpu's, monitors, dvd-Burners, you name it, all the products that Comp-USA sells.

If you guys are crying at the price come check in france, i bet you it's the most expensive european country in term of computers!!!
Today i saw a 9500 non pro selling for 400€!!!!!!!!
You can't find a good, cheap vid card the cheapest 9800SE is 270€ whereas i found it in the US for $170 (1€ = $1.16). That's almost twice cheaper (counting money change). The few 9700pro still on sale are at 360€

And don't try to find some more exotic stuff (prommie, peltier, even basic hsf, ramsink and else), you'll pay a big premium

Cowpuppy said it best! Buy a upgrade !

Edit:

I was p/o. Checked the place out, don't have some top brands at all, and price you pay today helps make up for the upgrade.

Still, a good way to go for some items. Proc's, vid cards and sound cards.

RAM selection sux!

The people that buy those cards only represent 1% of the video card market.
