I have a few questions for all you Air Cooling Guru's.
1) what is the best LGA775 CPU Heatsink out today. I belive it is the IFX-14 but wanted to make sure
2) does anyone have any aftermarket cooling solutions for an ATI 4870X2 yet?? if so point it out to be b/c with some serious google searching i only found one that took used a Thermalright V2 and a HR-03. That took up an extra PCI slot which i dont really have to loose as im trying to do a M-ATX build
3) and lastly, anyone have an aftermarket cooling solution for the Asus P5Q-EM? Its a G45 chipset. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131336

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm and theres no aftermarket air cooling solutions for the 4870x2 yet. most people are just getting 2 coolers and trying to fit it onto the card.

LOL, that list is very incomplete.
I would rate current top air coolers like this:
1. TRUE copper
2. TRUE / TRUE BLACK / IFX-14
3. Noctua NH U12P
4. HDT-1284 with Bolt-thru kit / HDT-1283 with Bolt-thru kit
5. Vendetta 2 with bolt-thru kit
6. Enzotech Ultra-X

I would put the HDT coolers above noctua, and TR HR-01 PLUS and maybe even the TR SI above enzotech....maybe on pair with the hdt coolers.
But yeah, 1 place is TRUE cooper, do doubts, also agree with your number 2, they trade blows depending on the circumstances.

http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2333&page=5 they tested every heatsink using the same method and they aranged them according to temperature and noise. heres a list of every cooler they have tested.

in that test the 120 beats the 120 extreme which doesnt make sense

i thought the same but what they have in that chart is out of the box performance. the TRUE they had needed lapping which seems to be a factor for most TRUEs out there. so the extreme will outperform the regular one if it is lapped but in this test the base of the extreme didn't make a perfect contact with the cpu.

This review is terribly bad. Usually, heatsink reviews will disagree with each other, so you need to look at several reviews, from trusted sites, before making your mind. Try to look at anandtech's review.
This frostytech is just bad bad bad. A lot of non-sense results there.
From the lots of reviews I have seen, and for the coolers I have personally tested, I would rate them like this:
1. TRUE copper
2. TRUE / TRUE BLACK / IFX-14
3. Noctua NH U12P
4. HDT-1284 with Bolt-thru kit / HDT-1283 with Bolt-thru kit
5. Vendetta 2 with bolt-thru kit
6. Enzotech Ultra-X
And as for the TRU beating the TRUE on that site, I have both here, and I can tell you that their out of the box base is equaly bad. No reason for that non-sense result there. Actually the reason for this, is because they tested the TRU with a 50dB+ fan and the TRUE with a 40dB+ fan. That is a bad comparison, you just can't conclude anything.
Do you see that the noise level is different from each heatsink? That is because they were not tested using the same fan. That is the most usuless review ever. You can see up to 30dB diffrence on the noise level between the heatsinks tests. They are not comparing oranges to oranges.

Frostytech doesn't believe end user should have to lap a brand new heatsink flat and are currently running a poll on the frontpage to see if the reader think they should boycott Thermalright heatsink reviews as they are fedup with the base issue as they have had the worst bases on all the heatsinks they have tested and they don't believe Thermalright BS hype that it's a design feature as on testing the bow is never consistent or in the same direction and one of the heatsinks they had was bowed inwards as opposed to bowed outwards.
so the results are based on an average off the shelf testing and thats why you get conflicting results as the average person is not going to lap a heatsink they have just bought.
