~£300 Recording & Gaming Sound Card

Hey there,

I'm looking for a high quality sound card with midi, good recording capability and superb play back through 5.1 and headphones. I'm also going to be using the soundcard for gaming. I think I prefer PCI-E card but firewire and usb are also available.

I will be using Windows Vista 64-bit.

My budget is around £300.

Currently I'm thinking of the Echo Layla 3G (http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/PCI/Layla3G/specs.php) what do you guys/ girls think of this card and can you recommend anything more suitable?

Well I went and blew the £300 budget.

I finally settled on the MOTU 828mk3 firewire soundcard reasoning it will likely still be compatible with future PCs while a PCI card may not.
