Power Supply Question

You guys seem to have tried most of my Ideas before I even had them myself so here's a question...

Is there a reason why I cannot have 2 power supplies running in parrallel?

I have been thinking of a pair of pc p&c 750w supplies with some output cables parralled to their matching pair from the 2nd PSU.

To me , the uninitiated, it seems that as I would be working with DC this would be akin to putting batteries in parrallel ...but is there a catch?

Thank you Dr Swizz , I'm aiming for more amps less price and this seems to fit the bill.
