Because you buy them. Higher demand = higher price.

Get a printer and a frame. Print out a picture and put it in the frame.
I saved you $100 + a year's worth of of electricity.

You're welcome.

like most of the tech out there..the smaller it is the more it cost..look at mini itx mother boards with pcie x16 slots some even with rev 2.0..wanted to build a potent mini itx gaming rig.:D.but the boards are expensive as hell...and slim sleek and compact cell phones.cost more to...some times things add up...some times it cost more money 4 less..but better tech is some times needed to make things smaller..just my on the subject..

Apparently they are trendy, so inevitably ... Fools will pay the asking price.

Well, it's not just an LCD... it's got onboard storage, a lil' motherboard with an ATMEGA8 or AVR32 or whatever on it, plus it's probably got one or more licenced IP cores (referring to imbedded licenced firmware modules) to do the file system, decompression and rendering. These things cost money to develop.

But yes, they're definitely overpriced, though.

Gee, thanks pal. :p:

It's just a lot more of a hassle hanging up your 22" screen to the wall, making sure that no cables are visible, attaching it to a computer without these cables being visible, etc.

No its not. Make a 1" diameter hole in the wall behind the spot for the 22", a sharp rap with a hammer will do it very well, drop the cables through the hole, make a similar hole at the bottom of the wall and fish out the cables and plug in. WALLA!!! 22" lcd picture frame for $169.

I'm sorry but making a hole in my wall is what I call "a lot more hassle". ;)
