Just wondering about the Vdimm. I was reading that > 1.6 Vdimm will result in CPU Damage due to the on die memory controller. Has this been debunked? I've got some 1600C7 (2 X 2048) @ 1.9v. If i7 does not have this limitation then I will wait for it, but if the limitation is applicable, then I will just stick with Core2 for now.

Impressive memory access on that PCM05, looks like Core i7 might actually show an improvement in my favorite benchmark
Ok, so the chips aren't overclock locked?
The non-XE are multiplier locked, not overclock locked... you cannot set higher mem multiplier than 8, for example. Indeed, this hinders ocing somehow.
I was thinking all mem related multipliers should be fully unlocked, at least I remember Intel claiming this before launch?!

memory multiplier must be unlocked (retail), otherwise this would be impossible

wow thats some real impressive results, i was initially considering the extreme chip but with all these results i'm seeing of the cheap ones made me reconsider, its not like i'm a huge serious overclocker but i think the 920 will serve my purposes just fine. I watercool and have considered a TEC for CPU so i think that will be a wicked setup

All memory multipliers are available on i7-920 and i7-940, but only with newer bios revisions on most motherboards. ASUS P6T and Rampage II Extreme have them locked on earliest bios revisions.
I wonder if 3GB is enough for vista x64.
I got the info concering locked mem multipliers from saaya. I was also hoping for them being unlocked... would be sweet. :D

That not original spec on it, if original it'll run 1600C7-7-7-18, 1.9V but this him drop timing to 8-8-8-24 also it don't need much voltage ;)

Now THAT I knew was coming. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it. I've benn busting a gut trying to keep quiet about that becasue i didn't have any source, but I knew BIOS tweaks would have to come. They always do.
This is outstanding! :yepp: These people are really working to give us good OC'ing features, and it's obvious they've worked very hard on it.
Guys if you work with this stuff PM me. I want to thank you personally. I've been waiting a long long time for this new technology, and this is gonna be so much fun. You've put the fun back into system building and OC'ing again for me. I've been out of the loop for a long time, and I'm so anxious to get my hands on this stuff I can't stand it.
I want the 17th to be yesterday so my stuff would already be on the way! :yepp:

I wish I could give you some hands on experience but my Core i7 920 has just left Toledo. The next best thing I can do is tell you that I will be looking in the Ai Tweaker menu for this ...
Intel Turbo Mode Tech [Enabled]
That option should enable or disable the Turbo Mode according to the manual.
From one review this is how they achieved 3.8GHz.
Ai Tweaker
Ai Overclock Tuner: Normal
CPU Ratio Setting: Auto
Intel SpeedStep Tech: Disabled
BCLK Frequency: 190
DRAM Frequency: DDR3-1523MHz
CPU Voltage: 1.35V
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.66V
They did this with the Turbo modes off. I'd like to see what happens when it's enabled. I'll have to wait until Wednesday to find out.

With auto its still at 20
