Hi there

I purchased an XFX Geforce 8800 Ultra XXX edition just over a year ago. I had issues with the card recently so I opened a ticket on the XFX site and we came down to the conclusion that the card was faulty and that I should take it back to the store I purchased it from.

I did this last week, the card was confirmed faulty and today I'm told that I need to pick a card that would be an equivalent for it, so that they can swap it out. Obviously I payed a lot of money for this card when I got it as it was already an overall expensive card and was the top card out back then.

I would please like to know what you guys think is an equivalent card to the XXX out of the selection of XFX cards available today? I really do not want a downgraded card. Lol.

Thanks in advance! :)
DC.

GTX 260 would be a fair even trade i think since they are out of the Ultra series. Shame a nice card like that has gone bad, Good Luck.

The GTX 260 is a phenominal card and I am impressed with its ability to overclock and display video. My last card was also an 8800GTX and there is no comparison either in speed or in rendering video. The video playback was totally unexpected. I bought the plain jane version of the XFX GTX 260. It clocks up to 725/1450/2300.

but wait a minute, by equivalent I hope XFX means equivalent in terms of price paid for the card at that time of purchase, because if not then I do not think it will be a fair replacement.

After all the XXX edition if I remember was something around 750/1150/1800 and that is the ULTRA edition whereas the non ultras are worth a whole lot less with less clocks.

Let us know what happens cause I have an ULTRA XXX card I may just need to send in for warranty replacement after confirming its non stability now under normal clocks.

It's usually close to both price and performance.

Obviously the ideal situation would be for him to get an identical card. Getting a GTX260 would be a nice upgrade performance wise regardless of what It retails for.

obviously he can't get what he paid for it, newflash: computer parts drop in value. Try to get a gtx260, a free performance increase. You should be entitled to something that is either as powerful as the 8800ultra or that retails for at least as much as a 8800ultra does today.

260 would be the next best IMO. 9800gtx doesnt do as well when gaming is bandwidth intensive compared to 8800 ultra
