Well a borrowed Prommie has a leak at a braze joint on the discharge line. I hope that's the only leak its suffering from. I need to know roughly how much R134a to charge it with. Also, if I am not going to tweak the cap tube, is it beneficial to charge with 404a instead? If so, roughly how much 404a? I might not have the chance to do a lot of tweaking so a rough guide will be nice. :)

I would also like to know how much R404a is required without any other mods.

60g get ya right in the ballpark.

Actually need to add approx. 60/63 inches of
.028 cap tube to perform best with 404a. 1.5M

edit for cap tube.

Great! Thx for the info! I wanna change the cap tube of course but my HVAC guy probably wont do it for me so it will have to wait till I get my own equipment.

None... it can often result in a damaged compressor fairly quickly without mods. If you're gonna do it, do it right... or don't.... else u may find u have a useless prommi

Ok, got it fixed and charged, with how much of gas I cannot tell. Now, without heat load, there is icing on the line back to the compressor and some icing on teh compressor around that area. I think its a little too much gas in there right? If so, then I'll let out the gas bit by bit, good idea?

Need to check the frost line etc. under load if at
all possible. Try and keep it back away from the
compressor an inch or so.

Place your hand on the bottom of the compressor
and make sure it is warm. If it is getting cold also
this will indicate flooding/overcharge.

If you do let out a little "squirt" for checking then
it's best to go ahead and shut the system down
for a few minutes so everything can equalize.

You can charge it with r404a, the only thing you would have to change is fans. i got both units modded, one of them is cap-tube modded+gas and the other one is just charged with gas + 2x delta 120mm fans. it works for over 6 months now without any issues. compressor hits around 65C but danfoss can take more thab that.

Man, did you have to reply that only after I got it charged? :p:

Anyways, put it on the Raddy already.
