Z5500.

Otherwise pick up a 4.1/5.1 receiver and build a system for the same or less thats better.

I like my klipsch 5.1 set. massive bass and gets VERY loud, with no distortion what so ever. The sub has dual 8" subs in their enclosure and freaking pounds HARD!

there is distortion at very loud volumes, aside from that its absolutely amazing as far as computer speakers go. the bass is the best that i have heard for computer speakers.

i may be selling my set soon though... :(
to upgrade to a $1500 5.1 set up :)

If you're using a X-Fi Platinum then I'd go with the Creative Gigaworks S750. They're VERY good and you'll gain two extra channels that come in handy when playing games or blu-ray media. There's no need to spend money on a digital setup like the Z5500.

Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 or the Creative GigaWorks 7.1 S750 THX if you're only looking for a computer speakers set and not willing to go a bit deeper for a HiFi setup.

Z5500 or 5300E. Probably too much power.

Can't go wrong with the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultras. You can find them on eBay for around 100-200 nowadays.

Either Logitech Z5500 or Gigaworks S750. Best computer speakers for now...

The Z-5500 are pretty much the best computer speakers you can buy on the market. Now if you want even better quality, I suggest you go with a receiver and some great Onkyo speakers. Mine make my games sound fantastic as compared to the Z-5500's. Now if you want some decent speakers that are worth the money, go with the Logitech X-540. For less than $60 most of the time, they rock.

I would say for your budget look at a Onkyo HtiB or re-certified system . You would get a receiver, sats and a subwoofer. You can also upgrade the speakers or sub at a later date.
Would provide the best sound quality for your budget...

Easy, HTiB! Just one example.

Computers Multimedia speakers? S750 and Klipsch aren't far apart. Each has strengths and weakness. It comes down to personal tastes. Fact, NO two individual's tastes are alike.

well if you want to take the cheaper way out but still have something descent get the Creative Inspire T6100 there sound good if you have a nice sound card and they run around $80 usd....i noticed every one else recommended $300 speakers so i mentioned these as an option the whole system is 76 watts (RMS) well i can tell you i had a two 10 inch subs in my truck and they were 300 watts RMS but peak power were 900watts so its up to you what you want to buy it all comes down to how much of an audio file you are

I really like my Z-5500's, bass is really nice. Only complaint is a small scratching sound when my wife uses the in-door water dispenser on our refridgerator.
