thanks for the link man, much appreciated, though this is far from perfect, its alot better.
Tip: for those of you with 22" (or at 1680x1050), if you need to save some frames, run the game at 1680x900 and set this wide screen fix trainer options to.
X:1.31
Y:1.436
Thats what I am doing and you get a great field of view at a wide res to fill to the side and you can save some frames in the process. So its like gaming at 1680 without having to have so much frame loss. Hint, if you do this, and you do not know to, turn off scaling of resolutions. Which will obviously not fill your screen and at black bars, but will NOT stretch the resolution. You must also set this resolution as a custom resolution in your control panel for your card. You must always set scaling to off, for stretching the resolution degrades quality.
I have had conversations with peopl arguing to me a game looked like crap, or a game looked better on consoles. Then i eventually found out they where playing at some wack resolution with scaling on.
I was talking to a guy who said Far Cry 2 looked horrible on PC and better on consoles and consoles are stronger than pcs and taking over. I found out very shortly he was playing pc games at 1280x720 (someone told him to do this to get better fps) on a 22" with scaling on. FAIL
scaling option is in your graphic cards control panel.

Decami no offense, but that quote in your sig couldn't be more wrong..
1. I'm not a console gamer. I don't own a console. I hate playing on consoles, It just feels like trash. I have been playing PC games for 2-3 years.s
2. I have played 23 hours so far, and I'm 48 percent through the entire game. It keeps getting better and better, and there is plenty of variety.
3. The only blind people are the ones who don't play Far Cry 2 because "The graphics suck," or, "OMG SO BORING I HATE DRIVING VEHICLES" Play the game it was meant to be played. I tried to play it like the way the people who this game play it, and your, right, it sucks when you do the same crap over and over. That's your fault. Far Cry 2 is an excellent game that has a few major bugs that need a bit of tweaking. If you don't like it because you think it's dumb to be driving around the whole time, why did you even buy it? I mean when you were purchasing far cry 2, what did you honestly expect that you DIDN'T get in the game?

well not every quote and comment on earth, maybe not any, are entirely correct, its not a completely serious statement anyway. As I am shure some legally retarded people might find this game bad as well. It is just an un serious opinion, nothing to get worked up over.
But hey whatever floats your boat, Im shure some people play Mother Trucker 3 for 20 hours so and love it....maybe.
Oh and by the way, none of those are the reasons i dont like it. I dont mind the driving or traveling. I like the graphics, looks great to me. Graphics are never an issue to me, gameplay is. You say you play it the way other people do and it does suck, and you shouldnt play it that way. Well let me remind you that this is a free raoming game and you should be able to play it in any way you want, without thinking the game sucks.

i wasnt aware that it needed a fix lol..
i did notice when i play at 1920x1200 on my 28" lcd the games smaller than normal when i go in windowed mode. Shouldnt it still be 1920x1200? when i played window mode in crysis it still took up the whole screen.
what does this fix do?
what res should i play at?
does it work for MP ?
thanks!

thanks! This has nothing to do with resolution, you should be playing at your native res. This fix changes the Field of View. At default, the game just stretches the FOV horizontally when using a widescreen resolution(which is a no no )
Here are screenshots, default vs fov fix...........

Those are a little big and hard to see. I can give you a better explanation of exactly what this does.
Here is Far Cry 2 in normal 4:3 aspect ratio.V
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/yodallseein/FarCry22008-10-2710-29-14-11.jpg
Here is Far Cry 2 in 16:10 aspect ratio (widescreen for pc)
Note that, to get this they cut the top and bottom off of the image above. Look at tree in the top left corner and the back of the gun, compared to image above.V
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/yodallseein/FarCry22008-10-2710-30-36-65.jpg
Now, here is Far Cry 2 with the fix, note how the image has a WIDER field of view compared to above image, and now you can see the top and bottom as well, like the first, the way it should be.V
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/yodallseein/FarCry22008-10-2710-30-50-21.jpg
these were all taken without moving at all, they are all the same exact image, just in different resolution for the first 2, and different field of view for the 3rd. You can tell this by looking at where the guns front sight is in every image.
TO above poster, idk if you set some things wrong or you took the photos wrong but your screens for the top and bottom of the images look the same. Also, it doesnt stretch it, that would be ridiculously noticable quality loss, it cuts the top and bottom off to get the aspect ratio needed.

+10 I decided I wouldn't buy another game that doesn't natively support 16:10. I'll probably buy a new monitor soon, but the last few years there have been a few dev's that have ignored my resolution, so I won't buy their product.

uh, its a widescreen fix, 5:4 is perfectly fine, you could use this, but it will just make everything look stupid. The game was built on 5:4 ratio, every other ratio is cropped from that, so....

I play at 1920x1200 do I need the widescreen fix? It seems fine when I play with no fix.

I guess thats because you are used to games taht limit your field of view, or are tricked into thinking you actually do have a wider view. Try the fix and see what you think, I guarantee you will be blown away at how much better it looks and plays. 1920x1200 is a widescreen resolution, so yes, a fix would help. But do you need it? Not if you dont care about being tricked into thinking your playing in true widescreen. Put it this way, if a movie was filmed in 5:4 ratio (square) and most arent. How would you feel if they cut the top and bottom of that movie off to show it on your widescreen tv, and you missed out on some of the action in the movie because it was cut off?
Believe me, try the fix.

Look at me reference screen shots above and decide. The second screen shot is you, the third is me. and compare those two screen shots.
