Hi guys, just finished building my new system and it keeps crashing while doing different things so could anyone help me trouble shoot this problem:

Firstly I transplanted my old Hard drive (with all data and system from old computer) to a new motherboard, CPU, Ram. Now windows keeps on freezing while I'm doing different things sometimes they work sometimes they don't here's a list of the programs that have crashed my system:

- Watching movie off Windows Media Player
- Looking at photo's through windows Photo gallery
- Surfing Internet Explorer (rarely but sometimes)
- Trying to download and install drivers from windows update
- Opening normal folders in windows
- Sometimes the whole system freezes up once it's loaded into windows.
- Running 3D Mark Vantage program
- Opening Microsoft Word

Now I've updated the BIOS to the latest version, but I'm not sure if I did it correctly, when I checked Asus's website they had like 6 different BIOS updates for my MB so I just downloaded the latest one, now should I have downloaded the oldest and worked my way up to the newest?

The system seems fine while I playing games like SPORE so I'm confused about what it could be and I'm having a hard time finding what the problem could be. I think it's something related to the Hard drive (maybe old drivers from my old system) or I'm thinking it could be the way I installed the Sata cable onto the HD because it's a bit squashed as I reversed it so as to hide cables.

Are there any programs out there that could monitor my system when it crashes to let me know what the causes are? Or do you have any advice as to what I should do to resolve this issue?

I once got this message with a blue screen "STOP:0X00000024" but I only got this once, every other time the screen and system just freezes.

also on startup a green message pops up with this message: "ODDO: HP DVD WRITER: 1040d" BUT I'm not sure if this is even an error message.

My hardware is listed in my sig, I'm running Windows Vista 64bit but everything I've downloaded or updated seems to be Vista 64bit compatible so I'm really confused and annoyed (not to mention depressed) if anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

You probably need more voltage on the north bridge running 8GB of memory.

Please list bios settings.

Humm, really? I haven't OC'd the system or anything, I would have thought 620W would be enough.

How would I go about providing more voltage to the north bridge? I hope it doesn't mean a new PSU.

My system hardly goes over 2GB of usage, or at least that's what Windows sidebar program is telling me (or would this be due to the reduced voltage)?

I've just turned my HD around so that all the wires are plugged in correctly and not squashed, so I'll see if this makes any difference as well too. But if you could let me know how I could provide the north bridge with more voltage I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

might be overheating

Has nothing to do with the psu, it's a voltage setting in the bios.

Your memory timings and voltage must also be set correctly.

Start a thread in this section http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=224 on help setting up the bios on a P5E3 Premium.
I'm sure you will get many answers from people with the same board.

Nope, I doubt that's it, Temp seem stable and my older system was much more cramped and hotter in general than this new one, so it can't be that.

OT: "My hardware is listed in my sig" is not good as some have showing signatures turned off.

Ohhh I get it now, you mean "others" on the forum have it disable so they don't see my sig, cheers for that matie .

Well here it is for those who can't see it:
