Picked the game up today and encountered this problem:
The game installed fine and I played for about a half hour. When I came back about an hour later, the game would open on about 2/3 of my screen only. Checked all settings and tried again-same result. So, I un-installed and tried again with the same result. It ran on full screen only 1 time. I'm running the hot fix from ATI with vista 32bit. I tried different resolutions (1920x1200 native) and no luck. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I sure don't see a setting that I've missed. :shrug:

That didnt do the trick for me. Why release when they arent ready?
The screen just flickers and only thing you can do is to hold control+alt+delete until you can end Farcry2. Sound and game is running but graphics is screwed.

Go to the exe, go to properties, compatibility then disable visual themes.

What do you think of the game so far? I've only played for about 30 mins also. So far kinda boring, and I'm not impressed w/ the graphics. Crysis puts it to shame so far. What are your settings? I moved everything up to Ultra and it still didn't look all that great, even in 1600x1200. I've had to back it down to "High" so I can play with 60+FPS though nice and smooth. :)

The game runs great on my system but i have to admit it does not rivet you to the seat like Warhead.

For everyone who has problems running the game on Vista:
Go to C:\Users\<YOUR NAME>\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 2 and open the file called "GamerProfile.xml"
Then Change
Platform="d3d9"
to
Platform="d3d10"

Desktop composition has been off since my windows install and the platform=d3d10 script is there also. The game still opens in windowed mode.:down:

For some reason, FC2 was delayed until tomorrow here. I'll let you guys know if I have any problems when I pick up my pre-order.

I've got a couple of different problems.
Singleplayer: Mission 1- It says to press E to remove syringes from medical kit. Pressing E takes me to the save menu kit, this continues in an endless loop.
Multiplayer: I can't stay in a server due to punkbuster, did the pbsetup and updated but pb is still not running in multiplayer.
Specific message:
RESTRICTON: Service communication
Failure: PnkBstrB.exe driver failure

thats a known problem with 64 bit operating systems
I ran pbsetup last night and it fixed it for me :) i was playing on ranked servers all night. You can still play on unranked servers with the pb error though.
they should have it fixed within a few days. :up:

There's a new driver out that's suppose to fix problems with dx9. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=205703

Heh, whenever I load a game the framerate gets all jagged, as if it's dropping every other frame or something. I have to go into options, change a setting, apply it, and go back into the game, and it stops o_O.
I can't get any of the new Catalyst drivers (including the hotfix), I'm still stuck on 8.7 because anything newer than that refuses to install properly. Meh.
It's pretty annoying, but there's a workaround and the game's pretty good so far. I'll live with it for now.

at least you can run the game. I get the black screen with background music on my vista32 machine no matter what I do, tried all the fixes and nothing. I'm guessing the problem is my old x800xt, prolly not supported. Thing is I ran the benchmark and it was 40fps min on med settings....

The only problem with FC2 is that it sucks.
I played it for a few hours and it felt more and more like Boiling Point:Road to Hell.
Nothing wrong with both games that a good uninstall won't cure.
What a disappointment.

I have to second that. Don't fall for the hype!:rolleyes:

Haven't played the game much, so far it was OK but nothing special.
Given what people are saying I wish that I had waited and not rushed to buy the Steam version for $45.

well I wish I get into playing the game - for some reason mine cuts off the ammo and health icons form the screen, running 1920x1080 on 32" HDTV, tried diff resolutions with the same thing, runs fine in windowed mode and I can see all icons but, switch back to fullscreen and bye bye to icons.
Also the mouse acceleration/lag is terrible in game and even more so in the menu.

So far I am definitely very disappointed. The game setup is very bad, I've played for probably 3 hours total and it's been VERY boring so far. I'll definitely play all the way through, but this may be a game I end up selling on ebay. Graphics are good, although I think Crysis blows this game away hands down, especially in the fun factor department.

Indeed very boring, missions are like, do this do that, free roaming is pretty good but nice visuals alone don't mean that much to me.... besides DX10 won't work anyway... uninstall I guess
