PC games have gone downhill. We need some new AD&D games. NWN 3 anyone?!?

The same games are on their 2-3 times ... kind of a sucky list if you ask me.

Two things that surprise me, the original crysis, I mean it's old, it's been bashed to no end, yet still makes the list and spore creature creator, did really that many people buy that while the real game was allready avalaible?

Also, if the list doesnt count sales through digital distribution like Steam then it's far off the real numbers anyway.

16.Diablo Battle Chest / Blizzard / $39
17.StarCraft Battle Chest / Blizzard / $20
I think this makes a statement about the status of PC gaming more than anything else. Starcraft is a great game without a doubt but it is a decade old and is still appearing in the top 20 best seller list. Ouch.

Yeah if there is no Digital Distribution numbers its off....

I mean Sin's was on the list for a decent amount of time and now where is it? I'd figure its still in the top 20.

I think it's because of Blizzcon. Everyone's excited about D3 and Starcraft 2, I'm not surprised.

D2 has been on the top 20, on and off, for almost a decade now though.

Two games make up the top 5. WoW appears 3 times. That already bumps 4 titles off the top 20 list.

WarHammer is selling like hotcakes, over 750,000 subscribers/sales last I heard. If Spore can keep ahead of WarHammer that would be mighty impressive. Those two titles are generating a lot of sales for EA and the PC gaming industry. Also, Activision-Blizzard have several titles in the mix as well. The two largest publishers duking it out.

I was in the city yesterday.
Spore is advertising in the freaking SUBWAY. They've got these huge banners everywhere. Between that and all the cable commercials their marketing expenses must outpace WoW...

Sad, sad truth. Casual gamers are destroying the market for the rest of us.

Here's what Will Wright has to say about this:

We were very focused, if anything, on making a game for more casual players. “Spore” has more depth than, let’s say, “The Sims” did. But we looked at the Metacritic scores for “Sims 2″, which was around 90, and something like “Half-Life“, which was 97, and we decided — quite a while back — that we would rather have the Metacritic and sales of “Sims 2″ than the Metacritic and sales of “Half-Life“.
