Sorry for the noob question but whats the recomended id of the suction line. Ive found some flexible coppertubing that has like a 3/4id which is used for water heaters in homes i believe and then i found steel braided tubes that i think are used for washers but they had a real small id

suction line..... as in evap tube. 3/8 inch ID works fine. 1/2
inch ID can be used but isn't actually necessary.
Shops that make up A/C type hoses for MVAC uses can make
these up with whatever type fittings you might need.
EDIT: Example.... The R507 Mach 1 Mod thread by FUGGER.
Go to page 3 and look at the pic that is
post #52. The center unit in that pic is
a Copeland Condensor unit and gives a
good example of the evap tube that has
been added.

My supplier describes it as flexible steel braided hose with convoluted steel 3/8" ID...
Stainless steel convoluted hose up to 8" bore, single or double wire armoured for applications where very high or low temperatures (-27°C -+700°C) or chemically corrosive fluids are encountered. Custom end fitting service.
PTFE lined hose, smooth bore or convoluted with single or double overbraid for temperatures -60°C to +250°C. Wide range of end fittings in plated steel or stainless steel. Emergency 'next day' service available
Apparently they supply it to a company in South Africa on a large scale, who use it for a company-wide phase-change computer cooling system... cooling multiple systems from large industrial compressors... he recommended this stuff as it is 100% non-gas permeable...
They're VERY co-operative by e-mail, and more than willing to help, but on a retail scale I think they'll only deal within confines of UK... outside of the UK will require bulk orders etc...
