hey all
i have just purchased a couple 4850's after having 4870 on water cooling.. i thought id try the 4850's under water aswell, both cards worked perfectly in Xfire and singely on the std heatsinks, but as soon as i put one under water i started getting the atikmdag.sys BSOD, so after alot of fing around i plugged back in the fan 4pin header and didnt get the error anymore, i never had this problem running the 4870's with no fan speed input with 8.8 and 8.9 drivers.. y has it got a problem with the 4850's 8.8 and 8.9 and even 8.10 drivers? is this an issue only under Vista64 ?
anyone else tryed ripping off the std heatsink and got this error? or anyone got any ideas for a fix? a wire mod maby?? surely there must even be a different BIOS i could flash on to fix this.. these are HIS models btw, am i being a tard and this is something that can be fixed in CCC ? any help would be much appreciated.
FIXED: seems the shipped HIS bios that was on there really didnt like not having a fan.. switched to an ASUS bios to start..
